It depends on your niche, where the traffic came from and many other things. My average CPC is in the $0.40-$0.45 range.

That does seem a bit cheap. That's less than 9 cents per click. Sounds like your keywords aren't getting good bids. I had 4 clicks yesterday and earned just over $3.

The higher the bid and the more traffic you get for that keyword the better your average CPC will be, in theory.

My $3 for 4 clicks day yesterday was mostly dumb luck. On average I only get about 120 page views a day and one or two clicks and about half the CPC that I got yesterday.

ctr is abit high but it seems very low i would suggest doing proper keyword research. if you are already doing this target keywords that have higher cpc.
also have in mind that whatever cpc is google takes a 30% cut out of whatever it displays as aprox.
I have had days like those before i started doing more due diligence for my sites clicks for a penny or two and tons of traffic.
but now i get about 1-2usd per click I try to only target high paying keywords.
more than once I received 7 usd on just one click. and its not impossible just look up insurance it is about $100usd cpc
    hope this helps.

Yeah >.. That is not really good .. I usually Earn around 0.30 to 1 Dollar per click ..

I think someone is visiting your site a lot of times in a day ..

Adsense only consider it as a legit click when it is done by a Unique ip address every single time .. Someone might be click a lot of links or anything else ..

India traffic will of course pay less.
There is no such thing as an average AdSense payment. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Everyone saying yes or no is only comparing to their own results.

      BUT
Your CPC is directly related to the amount paid by the advertisers (AdWords buyers).

You can get an idea of how much they pay for their keywords from the Adwords keyword tool but that is for Search ads not Content ads (AdSense) which tends to be a lot cheaper.

You need to be choosing high ECPC keywords for your site. Of course in practice the higher the CPC then the harder it will be to rank in the search engines so you need to strike a ballance within your own capabilities.

Can you rank a $100 keyword? (unlikely).

The next issue you have is clickthrough and conversion. Google will send ads to your site that get good clickthrough and good conversion. If your visitors are clicking well and then BUYING, Google will be sending those ads back to you and the better you do the higher value they will be.

That will be related to your traffic. If they are buyers the vendors conversions will be high, they will pay more for their clicks and Google will keep sending those high paying ads to your site.

If you send non-buyers (even with high CTR) there will be no conversions from your site traffic and Google will send the good (valuable) ads elswhere.

Tony said it all... most many developing Asian markets (or markets where internet transactions are still relatively low due to credit/payment facility restrictions, availability of same goods/services in physical stores, amount of illegal download/sharing, etc.) will naturally lower CPC to single-cent level.

A 'usual' high paying KW like Legal or Insurance in 3rd world countries won't even get you 20c in most cases whereas in US/CA/UK they might be worth $50/click or something.

Play around with the Google KW tool and see the posted CPC and competition... If it shows like 0.20 CPC even with high comp, you can be pretty sure that the actual CPC advertisers pay is lower than that and you a a publisher will get an even smaller chunk that's left-over.

It definitely matters what niche you're in. Some niches have $1.00-$1.50 CPC while others have $0.05-$0.10 CPC. Before creating a blog I always check if the CPC is high enough to profit on.

Like everyone else has said, it really depends on the keywords and niche. It is dictated by how valuable a single lead is to the websites paying google for the links.

But you have learned a great lesson here

Driving 36 clicks and 700 some page views in a day is a great accomplishment. If you can target keywords and niches with higher cost per click, you could do very well.

        Wow thats terrible.

        both the OP and hajro.

On my sites I average anywhere from $0.05 per click up to $2 per click earnings. It all depends on niche, and if the advertisers are paying a lot per click.

You guys need to switch to promoting CPA offers on your websites.

When you did you keyword research did you account for average CPC?

Some keywords will only give .10 CPC while others might give $20!

For instance, I had a niche site that I wish had as much traffic as what you guys had, generate $1 per click on average.

Get a CPA offer that's related to your niche and you'll make way more money.
