My EMD and top keyword phrase receives only 1300 local searches per month. I have 20+ keywords/keyword phrases relating to the main keyword phrase receiving anywhere from 800 searches per month to the max of 2,900 searches per month.

My question is will this effect the difficulty of ranking the other keywords? Is it a problem that my main keyword phrase has a lower search volume than many of my other keywords? From a logical viewpoint every keyword phrase fits very well under the main keyword phrase receiving 1300 searches per mo.

For example: say gardening tips received 1300 searches, and preparing your garden for winter returned 2900 searches per month.

From my limited knowledge, you should not have an issue if you have a post/page about preparing your garden for winter. Search engines will match your phrases to the query (based on hundreds of data points) and show your page accordingly.

You'll most likely get more traffic from the 2900 searches phrase, but some people may click around and see the 1300 searches pages if the content they land on is compelling enough to warrant a low bounce rate.

    2 cents...

No it's not a problem, especially with such low volume. Are these broad or exact math searches btw?

These are broad searches. Is that a problem when doing keyword research, should I look for exact searches?

Edited to say: Yea thats a huge problem. lol. Time to redo my keyword research, i suppose. Too bad too, such a high CPC for several keywords (10$+)

In my experience, as long as they land in the same page, there is no problem about it.
