Hi
i was ranking on page 1st for a particular keyword from past 2-3 days but suddenly my website is on 60th position. Will you please tell me whats the reason behind it and the page which is ranking on 60th is not the page i am targeting. Its the second time my ranking suddenly gone.

Google favours new sites it finds for short periods to keeps its results fresh then chucks them down the list.

Build good backlinks and you will climb back up. You cant panic when a 2 day long ranking jumps around as this will happen a lot until you have been ranked for a while and even then can do a bit of dancing from time to time.

First watch the all top sites, so you can see the exact difference and try to do the best quality site by changing content by targeting your specific keywords or view of you site. After that you have to need to do very few link building. Do it...and tell me.

This is not that uncommon, Samuel. You were probably just benefiting from what many SEO experts refer to as Beginners Luck - when Google gives preference to newer sites for a short amount of time. You will need to go back to the basics to do both onsite and offsite SEO to your website, to get it back to the top.

The most probable reason for the drop could be stale content.
It could be some penalty as well.

Here is Matt Cutts telling the most possible reason for the drop in SERP rankings... Check this out!

Yah, Google Dance could be a reason but don't worry it happens some times. Just concentrate on your link building, keep updating your site/blog contents. You will be soon on 1st page.

It's nothing to do with content. This happens all the time with new sites, you rank high and then drop like a stone, it's all part of the google dance. Just keep building quality links and eventually you will hit the first page again.

People keep taking about the Google dance... But I feel like something else is going on that is new. I have a site that was ranking first page for several very related keywords. It was at one time ranked in the top three for all of them. recently almost out of the blue, their ranking for one of the versions of the search phrase dropped like a stone. They are now on the bottom of the third page. The strange thing is that they still rank for an almost identical search phrase. Literally the same as dropping for "running shoes" but still ranking in the top three for "running sneakers".

Another site was creeping into the top page for a set of keywords. Then all of a sudden it started dropping off the radar for about half of them. Still other rankings remained unchanged. It really feels to me like google has implemented a penalty system that is keyword specific. So if you buy some shady links all with the same keyword or something like that... They penalize your ranking for only that keyword.

i feel like this might be their way to break the rule that no links can hurt you without totally accidentally destroying innocent sites. This way they just filter or penalize you for very specific infractions... Like the seal team six of Google penalties. Has anyone else experienced this??

    What do i do?
