you can do every page which is suggested but you dont have to. Remember many thank you pages will not be indexd as there is no link to it unless you have it in your sitemap. You always want to optimize each page because you never know what you will get ranked for and any traffic is better than none.

I'd agree with blitz, the more pages are optimized, the better, unless I misunderstood something.

Optimizing every page is a good idea. Of course, some pages lend themselves to using keywords more naturally in the content and that sort of thing, but overall it doesn't hurt to optimize wherever you can.

Optimizing more and more pages of your website could be a recommended idea but the main point is optimizing the sections which have been specifically created to target sets of keywords, in most cases your homepage. Assume for example that your site has hundreds of content pages and most of your links are pointing at your homepage, in that case if lots of your pages get optimized but you miss your front web section, the index file, what would happen then?

After launching your site, preparing the list of keywords and selecting which pages need to get optimized for the terms, build links for them and edit them in a way to have better chances of getting ranks. Of course certain measures can be taken and adopted like using proper navigation systems with text links, when your site is very big even navigation links which act as internal listings would help your web pages getting better ranks and also adding Alt attributes to your top images.

I think there is no need to optimize "contact us" page for specific keyword for adsense. Same as "privacy policy" etc. May be I'm wrong -)

There is absolutely no need to optimize contact, privacy and such pages as everyone has them and no one is trying to rank them for anything.

what if your homepage is a sales page and you have a blog section?

do you optimize the homepage for a particular keyword and each blog post for the other keywords you want to rank for?

    Thanks for the feedback guys

You optimize you home page for what is on your homepage. The blog posts are to get people to come to the site, so you should have keyword optimized content to rank for the article/post.

Is your site a store front and you are trying to get ranking and traffic with the posts?
Or is it a one product sales page and your trying to get traffic for that offer?

There are many different things that you can do, but alot depends on how you are setting your site up and what you want it to do!

Everything that you do is to get more traffic and more sales, right. So optimize what you can and then work on the marketing of your site and products. That will make you more in the long run then just optimizing your pages.
