PLR articles for backlinks?

I've heard that if you have some PLR articles which are related to the niche of your site, then you can use the PLR articles to build backlinks.

My questions are;

1. Do you need to spin the PLR articles so the search engines will count them as backlinks? As PLR isn't original content, Google won't rank it well, but will it still count as a backlink?

2. What is the best type of sites to submit them to? Should you avoid web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo, etc.. and just submit to sites such as WordPress.com, etc..

3. Are these type of backlinks strong enough to improve your sites SERPs positioning or are they too weak because the content wouldn't be original or does the fact the content is not original have no bearing on how strong the backlink is?

    I would make sure they are spun at least 80-90%.

    In my opinion they hold little to no value anymore & Google puts less credit towards them now.

    They are not that ethical however, yes they are more than strong enough to nail you good rankings even for high volume search terms.

      Do you have any recommendation on what is the best free spinner? Or are free spinners not good enough?

      If they are not that ethical, is it still considered a white hat form of link building?

    Can't say that I have tried free spinners, I have only used The Best Spinner for spinning articles.

    I have been hearing that Spin Re-writer is also a good choice too but have yet to try it out.
