If a keyword shows exact match monthly global traffic of 30 in adwords tool and local 12, does this mean that my site would not receive more than 1 daily visitor if ranked in 1st position on google? How is keyword traffic estimated?

Is it beneficial for me to target this keyword?

Global is world wide traffic, local being the country your targeting. People will tell you not to bother, I would tell you the opposite. Remember that your low searched KW may increase in search volume due to related searches having it show on for different related keywords. Plus, it never hurts to have these smash easy ranking keywords in your arsenal ranking on the first page of Google. Just because you write an article for it, it doesn't mean it has to be in your sites publicly viewed menu....if that makes sense.

    Nope IMO. It's too low.
Personally I don't target such a keyword. I will choose a keyword which has low competition with a minimum of 1000 monthly global searches. If the keyword has relatively high CPC I also consider relevant keywords around 500 monthly global searches.

CPC price inside Google Adwords Keyword Tool is just that........the cost of the average bid on that keyword for google advertising. It does not reflect the competition you will face in the search engines for this keyword.

You need to dig deeper and check the backlink strength of the competition when you actually browse that keyword. Take the top 10 and check the backlinks using backlinkwatch.com. This will give you a rough idea of how many backlinks each site has and what anchor text they are using.

You could target that keyword but i would not base your one page SEO on any with such low results unless you see it is a rising trend, you can use google trends for this.

I would only really suggest using a keyword with low results like this for article marketing.

      Hope this helps.

I would say 30 and 12 would be too less, according to limited personal experience, monthly exact local search should be above 1K, or you probably won't get enough traffic.
