Keyword Question

hi,

I need a small suggestion regarding keywords. I have a keyword which has 27500 exact searches and 450,000 broad match results. suppose ir i get my site to top, then wat traffic i can expect?

Lets split up..

ads on google gets 25% clicks, and 75% goes to search results.

so now in 75%, lets take the worst case. We get 15% clicks to 3rd position.

So now 15% of 27500 is 3000 (approx). So Now we have 3000 visits. What can be the CTR, it my calculation right? how much traffic can i expect from broad and phrase match? i am greatly stuck here! hope you guys can help me

Looks like you answered your own questions

There are forumlas that will help you calculate your earnings from traffic and adsense. Don't just target that one keyword though! Make articles on related long tail keywords and expand your search volume. With a lot of exact search volume like that you can be making some good money.

If you are talking about monetizing your website through PPC programs like AdSense and have plans about those numbers and potential traffic stats to be gained when your site reaches the top of Google, well that is a bit difficult to answer because if you are familiar with a phenomenon called bounce rates, so you already know that two websites which more or less have the same stats on Google could have very different money making status, conversions and cash flows.

I guess instead of filling your mind with all those numbers and figures, attempt to create a quality website and see in practice how successful you will be in optimizing your portal to reach top of Google because in theory SEO may seem to be easy to approach but in practice lots of obstacles will be encountered which need to be tackled with properly. You can always expand your site, adding more pages to it and targeting more phrases, leading to better clicks and page visits.

well that was really good answer.. i am actually looking to calculate traffic stats for a website.. so i need approximate figures to tell my client.. so that he can tell whether it is affordable or not..

  Here's the approximate click ratio of the 1st page in the SERPs. Exact or phrase match doesn't matter, it's a page one click thru rate. You need to be ranking for the exact to use the exact match numbers, and likewise you need to be ranking for the phrase match to use those numbers. The second page is roughly 10% according to the first url.

  Almost forgot if you're using Google's keyword tool then the numbers are only for Google's searchengine. You can get a daily estimate of Yahoo and Bing at the first url. And if using Google do an exact or phrase match and download the results to see the monthly numbers if not you'll get the previous 12 months average.

These are mere estimated searches... You cannot predict the amount of traffic from these statistics.

All you can estimate is CTR which supposedly is approx 42% for top ranking website.

so what will be traffic ctr % for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position? of both exact and broad matches?

  The urls listed above give you an idea of the click thru rate for the page listings on the first page in the SERPs sarting at about 40% for the first listing down to about 2% for the 10th.
  
  Use the percentages for the exact search numbers. Use the same percentages with the phrase match numbers. Use the same percentages for the broad match numbers. Just multiply the exact, phrase and broad search numbers individually and you'll see the percentages for each.
  
  It depends on where on where you rank for each page in the SERPs as to the click thrus. Unless you have the same ranking for all three terms you'll have to use different percentages and numbers for each. If you're ranking higher for phrase or broad than you are for exact you should use those numbers instead.
  
  If you mean the click thru rate on your site no one can guesstimate what that is as there's to many variables - site layout, type of visitors, etc.
