How to make "invisible" backlinks?

Hello there,

I have few websites ranked good - I would like to put there on index page(in footer) backlinks to my other websites but on the other hand I would not like anyone to see those links.

Is there a way to do it? I was thinking about adding color of backlink/keyword in the color of background but I have heard it does not work and google does not 'notice'/count links that are done this way.

Is it true? Is there any other method?(any script maybe?)

    Masking links in the color of your background is considered "blackhat", and should definitely be avoided in my opinion.

    You could do something like:

    Partners:
    Link1
    Link2
    Link3
    etc.

    This is commonly seen on websites and it won't cause any troubles to the visitors.

    I definitely wouldn't recommend trying to hide your links. Just make the font size quite small, so they aren't very noticeable.

    Beware, hidden links will backfire on you! But if you insist, you can do something like this:

    Code:
    style="visibility:hidden;"
    or

    Code:
    style="display:none;"
    Signature
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      visibility:hidden; will still show white space for the div, so it's not a good option IMO. All it does is hide the text, not the amount of space the text takes up on the page. So even though you can't see the text it's going to leave a space on the page that will be noticeable.
      display:none; will hide the text & remove the space the text takes up.
      Both styles above are borderline BH, still they have their place for legit styling of the page (sliders, tabs, etc...).
    Thank you all guys. So the general opinion is that one should avoid such tricks to hide links? I thought that maybe there are some script or tricks to make links visible to spiders, but not to readers of website. Now I think this could be "dream come true" for link-farms/black hat seo so I guess such tricks do not exist or do not work?
    You should avoid this because if google finds out you will be in trouble. Why not put a link which SE and your visitors can see?
    I've heard about this method and indeed heard that it was something NOT to do. Have any of you guys actually tried it, though, and gotten penalized?
    Are these sites related? Well if they are then I think it is OK to interlink your sites as long as you are doing it for the purpose of adding value to your users and readers (by letting them know about your other content that they could also be interested in). If you want to be 100% safe, however, it would be a good idea to add a nofollow attribute to your cross links....so...if these links don't add value in any way...just don't.
    One thing that you should know is that invisible backlinks are considered as illegal in SEO nowadays.You might be penalized for this so it's better to leave such idea on your mind.
    What's the purpose of the links?
    And what are you trying to hide?
    Do you want the SEs to see the links, but not real people? If this is the case, a transparent gif/png image would probably be the safest, but it's still not without risk.
    Or, maybe create a few images that look like a horizontal rule, and use them...
