Redirect URL to fix rankings?

Hi,

I have a website that's 7 months old. Right now, all 50 pages on my site are indexed according to the google "site:" function.

However, only about 10 of those pages are ranking in Google. The other 40 are nowhere to be found within the first 100 pages of Google.

I'm pretty sure my site was hurt because I did some bad things with a low quality blog network to try to boost my rankings.

So my question is this: will changing my site from XXXXX.com to YYYYY.com improve my rankings.

I just want to see my pages ranking again.

Also, what would be the best way to redirect a URL? Is this difficult to do?

    There's no point in changing your site to another domain. It's not going to help your rankings.

      No friend..it is not a difficult task to change your domain name for the same site. You have to simply redirect the URL. But remember- when you do this thing then your site has gone down on the search engine and you have to do SEO, SMO and more to come on top. So do this only when it is necessary.

        I never claimed it was difficult. You are completely missing the point.


        But remember- when you do this thing then your site has gone down on the search engine and you have to do SEO, SMO and more to come on top. So do this only when it is necessary.
        What's that's even supposed to mean?

          It mean that if you are on the top for the previous domain but now can be down for the new. Because it's new for the search engine and you have to do again link building i.e. SEO and also for the best have to do SMO.

    Firstly, what led you to that conclusion?

    Now if you did want to move your site to another domain, you would need to do 301 redirects to the new domain in order to retain all your link juice, unless you want to start from scratch and start the whole backlinking process again.

    Your new domain would effectively (although not exactly) the same ranking power as your old domain, so that's why I don't see much point in moving it.

      Acutally, I wouldn't mind doing all the backlinking again, I just don't want to lose the look of my site and all the social proof on it( facebook likes, comments, tweets, etc..)

      Thoughts??

    If you want to redirect crappy urls to good ones, then you should definitely 301 to new locations. It is a terrible idea to leave bad urls in place indefinitely because you didn't do things right in the beginning.

    you can permanently move your old pages to new pages through 301 redirect.

    yes domain changing is not the option, by doing this you may loose the good rank rage rankings also, so try to build links for your inner page, with good sites ,

    It's not a bad URL, it just seems that none of my posts are ranking anymore and was wondering if redirecting to a new URL will fix this problem.

    As I said before, ALMOST NONE OF MY POSTS ARE RANKING.

    I don't care if I lose my backlinks, I just don't want to lose all the social proof (comments, tweets, likes, etc..).

    How would you handle this?

      Actually, the new site wherein the old site is redirected will have almost the same rankings as the old site used to have. It might have a very little reduction but not as if it would fluctuate that much.
