question on site design for SEO

I found a keyword that should be pretty easy to rank for, but I'm at a lose on how to design the site so it would be SEO friendly. I can picture 3-4 different ways to make the site, but I'm not quite sure what would be the most SEO friendly. Kinda of want to get other peoples opinions before I start this project.

1.) 1 Article on on the subject with a link to amazon, sorta like a squeeze page, and a few related articles to make myself look like a authority.

This would be the easiest way to design the site, I don't have to deal with putting up pictures. Basically, its a get people to amazon and let amazon do what it does best sorta site. It will probably have a high bounce rate, since it will not have a ton of pictures.

2.) A store layout.
I could have pages and pages of pictures with very little text on the home page linking to various pages with a product and description and a link to amazon. The problem would be a slower load time due to the pictures, and i'm not to sure how to do the SEO with just pictures on the home page.

3.) A mixture
A 9-12 of the best selling products on top with a long article on the bottom. A click here for more which would link to the 2nd page which is like the store layout in the 2nd option. This would be the most work, and the SEO shouldn't be to hard.

The keyword has virtually no competition, so a few back-links and a exact domain match should be enough to put me on top. I just never attempted a product site before, and wanted to get a few opinions before I gave it a shot.

    1. Purchase a domain using your keyword
    2. Create a wordpress site that is identified that is seo friendly
    3. Use the All in one SEO pack to do SEO.

If you need anything else don't hesitate to pm me.

Ok, I did more keyword research and the Silo idea would work great. I can think of two silos, and it would be even easier to rank for them then the main keyword. The only thing is programing wordpress is going to take a while, but whatever I'll figure out a way to do it.

Here's what I'd tell you. Buy Thesis and be done with it, until Yukon gets his theme done.

You have to have a theme that allows for content rich category pages to get most out of it. Thesis does this better than any I've seen.

I know Clickbump is working on the same thing.

Unless you're a programming wiz, I wouldn't do it any other way. Go check out my blog, I've got some tips there.

It doesn't get any more confusing than that diagram I posted.

And yes, you need to silo it if it's going to be huge. Otherwise it's going to look like a big article directory with no purpose.

You say you have found your keyword? Are you looking at "exact" match searches or "broad"?

Have you actually checked out the competition. I don't mean in Google Keywords Tool as this is not search engine competition but adsense competition. I mean the backlinks that each of the sites on page 1 of google has and their anchors.

I would suggest building mini sites based around particular products as the best way to drive traffic to Amazon. Sites only need one review article and a few pages each designed to optimize for just one keyword.

If you need help let me know. Feel free to add me on skype. By the middle of this week i will have finished the tutorial showing exactly how to make this sort of site. Every step of the way.

Yeah, I checked out the competition. There is a page rank 3, but he is not optimized for the keyword. The rest are all between 0-1, and even an N/A. I already made the mistake of targeting a sorta competitive keyword with another site, stuck on page two atm. I found this by mistake and just had to go for it.

I've thought about just doing one article, and a few other supporting ones. I'm sure it would be a lot easier, but I just finished setting it up a free photoblog theme in a way that should work in the way that I want it. It is not... absolutely pretty for SEO, but it should work.

I have it set up so the homepage will target the main keyword, and it will also try for the related one. It will link to my two main silos by picture, with 4 smaller silos underneth targeting other various keywords. The silos are really just post categories in word press. All I have to do when I make a post is check which two categories it belongs in, and that will decide which main silo and which smaller silo it should go into.

Each post will have ONE amazon referal link, and an article between 150-300 words. I have the site set to no index until I had 30 products, and I will add a few products each day after I remove the no-index.

I will also have a couple of related, no sales pitch, well writen articles related to the subject with an adsense ad or an amazon widget (dunno which yet).

I had one problem though. The silo pages are really just categories (which I renamed products in wordpress). All they have is a picture and an excerpt from the post. There is no unique article on these pages, just tons of anchors linking back to these pages. The theme I'm working with really won't let me add an unique article to these pages, anyone know if this will really be a problem?
