Google PR Question

In regards to back links, if a site has a Google PR of 6 can only sites GREATER than 6 convey their "juice" to help a further increase in PR?

Or, can several thousand PR 4 sites help increase from PR 6 to PR 7?

    There is some really interesting articles on that on the web, some have actually made charts saying if you have this many pr4 and this many pr7 ect. I don't even consider pr any longer though. I can't understand it. Some of my sites with no pr have flourished some with high pr do nothing.

    When it comes to PR, I think you need to consider your site's "value" to visitors. Longer visits = greater visitor value= higher PR. Yes, the juice from other sites matters too, but look at the sites with the highest PR: Facebook, Amazon, Youtube etc. People hang out on these sites for long stretches of time, but so many of the sites pointing to them don't have any PR (granted they have loads of sites pointing to them from all over the world). That's my take on it anyway.

    OP, the answer is yes.

    If you are PR6, you CAN go to PR7 or PR8 by having any number of PR6 or lesser links. It doesn't necessarily need to be higher only.

    Take for example, addthis.com. It's PR10 and got that from the thousands of blogs using its services. Another example is get.adobe.com/reader from the thousands of lower pr sites linking to it.

    Only Google can answer that question accurately! But I do think that PR4 sites can provide link juice to a PR6 site though much less than higher PR sites. The equation given above may be useful though some may need a math tutor to work that out ;-)

    To get PR 7 you will need about 2.5k PR4 links and for PR 8 you will need about 15k PR4 links.

    I would have to say yes as I haven't seen a website yet with PR 7 that has no backlinks. If you want to dig a bit deeper on this, here's what I do to simulate a PR 7 page.

    I take several PR 7 websites with varying backlinks count and query them on linkdiagnosis. This tool displays how many of the backlinks are PR1, PR2 and so on. Consolidating the numbers between websites, you could get the idea as to how much you will need of what PR to get 7.
