LinkJuice Truth - Home page rank vs. Sub page rank

OK, so after scouring this forum and the net, with little luck on finding an answer, here goes- (and forgive me if I failed to find this- might be a blonde moment!)

Is there any verifiable truth (i.e. google release, matt cutts, etc) that states the truth about link juice from a high PR home page compared to a zero PR sub page?

As an actual example, if I post a backlink on domain that has a home/index PR of 8, but the actual sub-page that my article, post etc gets posted on is a PR 0, is this useless for backlinking?

Some argue that you still get some linkjuice from the home page, some say no dice.

Any confirmation? I certainly welcome your comments and suggestions as well.

    In future, you should be posting these threads in the SEO sub-forum.

    It depends.

    It depends on how exposed that sub-page is to the homepage and other internal pages on the site - that already have link juice flowing through to them.

    It depends on whether that sub-page is allowed to be crawled by Google.

    I'll just add that I have pages on my sites that have zero external backlinks, purely internal. Most of those pages now have PR; many as high as the homepage.

      Thank you for getting back to me! I assume I can check the code of that page to see if it is nofollow right? or do I need to try to view the robot.txt file of that domain will let me? If I am missing something on how to determine if it is nofollow please enlighten me....thanks again

    As with ALL backlinks, if they are not relevant to your sites keywords you get less to no juice. If both the PR8 page and the PR0 page from the same site have a topic related to your site and there are not ANY other outbound links to ANY other sites besides yours on the PR0 page, you get juice.

    More than 1 outbound to another site OR/AND no relevance on a PR0 backlink is useless.

    Also DO NOT make outbound links to PR0 sites...ever...if you are going to do an outbound link make sure it is to a higher PR page/site that is relevant to your keywords on the page/site where the link is.

      I am just going to take a stab but I bet you have absolutely no evidence that any of these opinions are true.

      Based on what evidence? I've certainly not seen any evidence for these claims.

      It's true that having a dofollow link on a high PR page with a related topic to your site is best, but it certainly doesn't mean you get no juice from non-related sites.


      Also DO NOT make outbound links to PR0 sites...ever...if you are going to do an outbound link make sure it is to a higher PR page/site that is relevant to your keywords on the page/site where the link is.
      Talk about pot calling the kettle black. Your site is full of outbound links to PR0 pages and your sig is an outbound link to a PR0 page.

      Wow....replies like this is why its difficult for people new to SEO to get any kind of understanding at all of how it works. I can say that this is FLAT OUT untrue. I have plenty of non-relevant high PR backlinks and I've gotten a dozen mid competition sites/pages to page 1 in the last 3 months. Yes relevancy will get a slightly stronger influence but having no diversity in your backlinks can also get you flagged. Natural backlinking would get you backlinks from non-relevant sites on a relevant topic(that does happen more than you would think). I'd advise you scour not only WF but the web in general for info in SEO and you will get a better idea. I will say I got tons of help here and in the War Room also.

        Non-relevant high PR backlinks definitely work to get your website ranked highly in the SERPs. Get quality backlinks (they don't Need to be relevant) on a consistent basis, and your site will continue to rise.

          thank you all so much- please recommend the best high quality backlink services please. Angela & Pauls? Some of these guys that advertise on here have their backlink sites de-indexed sometimes, which makes me look bad in front of clients...so any suggestions as to whom the best you have used that are reliable and solid would be great, thanks
