Same Article... Many Directories?

While spying on one of my competitors (SEOSpyglass), I found the exact same article in many different article directories. Apparently google does count these. The question is, I guess, Is it worth all the time I spend writing entirely new articles, or even the time it takes to "spin" them?

I think that Google does recognize them to some extent. I sort of look at the same article posted in many places a bit like a nofollow attribute on a page. It knows it's there, but doesn't give it the same weight as if it is unique content. Generally, I will slightly reword an article (about 30%) to post to different important directories or turn them into hubpages or squidoo lenses by just adding train of thought content to an existing article. However, if I want to blast to 300 directories, I make sure to spin the content.

    Hope this helps you,

  • Yea they will definitely count them. No one knows for sure if their alog discounts them to some degree, but they will certainly count.
