Private Blog Links the ONLY Thing Working?

The only thing I see really working these days with my site is private blog network contextual links.

Seems like these older strategies are hardly making a dent anymore:
  • Scrapebox Comments
  • MediaWiki links
  • 2.0 Properties
  • Blogroll Links
  • Random edu and gov

What are you guys seeing out there? Anything else I should be paying attention to? Thanks!

    Not necessarily.

While private networks of blogs with contextual backlinks are great, it is all about the quality and relevance of the other links you make.

Whatever backlinks you create, ensure they are all highly targeted (theme related) and contain a lot of unique high quality content.

Random backlinks without much content or much of an approval system from the website owner generally won't last.

I hear guest posting, link baiting, and press releases are still doing okay.

Depends on whether you are linking directly to a money site or not.... Also, some business models do not require any backlinks at all. Depends entirely on what you're trying to accomplish.

I don't thin private blog links are the only way, but they're powerful. There are so many methods like press releases, article directories, link baiting, Web 2.0 properties and video marketing that will help your website gain rankings and traffic.

I think it just depends if you are getting those links for traffic or to make more website optimization. Frankly, strategies you mentioned are still working on optimization but maybe sometimes of a little importance of getting rapid traffic results. Focus on link building and I think you will find them very important.

I got a private network for one of my blogs and rankings went up. It was sitting on the 2nd page for a while and it went to page 1; however, after 6 weeks, it came back to the 2nd page. I purposely didn't build any links to it after joining the private blog network to see what impact would it have, and the gains weren't really permanent. So back to the old ways...

  • Yea I must admit I specialize in using private blogs to get backlinks. I find the quality much higher, and I can rank a whole lot easier.

When you guys say private blogs are you referring to those places you join as a member, like buildmyrank.com, or more like guest posting on individual blogs where you ask for permission... or something else?

Nope and nope. Just do some searches on here and you'll find out what they are.

What are you guys using these days for press releases? The only one I've ever used is PRWeb.

Would love to try one out.

Private Blog Links can be used when you stuck in a position somewhere that not in first page. Make sure that you use unique blog posts.

Link bait, Link wheel , press releases and guest blogging have worked for me. Give it a try. Please keep in mind that links from unique content are very powerful and they can help you increase your PR and ranking both.

Try to put your links at social networks, combine this with some private blog backlinks and the easy to get web2.0's, wiki's, comments and your rankings will increase fast. It's all about a solid mix.

I see what you did there. Ha.

I would think a mod would have pounced all over it.

    1. Mass private blog posting work great at the moment (ALN).
    2. Social bookmarking still works (not as effective as six months ago though).
    3. Manual blog commenting on high PR pages still works.
    4. Good press release distribution still works.
    5. High quality private networks and guest posting (blogging?) both work great.
    6. And many other techniques...

Manual blog commenting, press release submission, social bookmarking, directory submission, forum signatures, link exchanges are still have great rankings power.

What directory submission stuff are you using? I thought that went the way of the dodo. Please elaborate! Thanks.

No, private network is not the only thing working... I have many clients that see great results using social bookmarks, articles, profiles.. It is all about the MIX.

Backlink services providers hardly ever say anything different but outside of them everyone knows Profile links and social bookmarks are nowhere near as effective as they were before and really only help in really weak serps. It also has nothing to do with mixing these links. Google thinks most of those kinds of links are spammy and there is nothing in their algo that rewards you for how you mix spammy links.

Yah I only use non-contextual blog links for diversity reasons, but if I want to rank, then contextuals are the way too go without doubt.

Private blog networks works the best, but make sure you spin your articles as much as possible and they are still readable..

I also believe that blogs be very helpful for getting keyword position and with that for getting more visitors and backlinks to the site. But one need to make the comment with the unique and meaningful content and that is on the high pr and authorised sites only.

Personally, private blog networks are one of the best things for me right now. First it was BuildMyRank, but most of their sites are now PR0 and PR1. So I started using private blog network vendors (they don't accept posts from the public, they're not monthly subscription) and ultimately built my own PR4+ network. Works extreeemely well

Having said that, other things also work well. Social bookmarks work well for indexing and ranking very low competition keywords. Article marketing can work depending on the keyword. You can build Tier 1 high quality web2.0 sites, and then point "$hit" links at them to juice them up.

Private blog network links are powerful though you need to diversify your backlinks. Web 2.0s, article backlinks, press releases, social bookmarking links are still in my arsenal.

Linkvana is apparently doing very well right now and starting to creep in on BMR territory. Prlog.com is also very strong when it comes to press releases

a good private blog network can be the core of your seo, other than that spread some edu's, some wiki's, article links, a bit of social bookmarking and that's it, at least for a low-med competition

Too me, video submissions, press-release, article marketing, social media, Edu + High PR blogs of 2 - 7 still works perfectly ..

Blog commenting (BMR), mass forum posting backlinks etc.. doesn't really work anymore (own opinion)

    Hope this help,
    Jeremiah

    Scrapebox Comments
Still work if you use it in lower tiers

    Media wiki links
It works if you have reasonably good content , but hard to get it indexed.

    2.0 Properties
Still works great but not with spammy s**t spun contents

    Blogroll Links

yeah , seems to have less impact as google is now able to identify the links from sidebar and blog rolls

    Random edu and gov
It works depending on the OBL (out bound links)
