How can I change these meta tags effectively

I am having trouble with the meta tags of a clients website.

As you can see the guy that created the website for my client did a terrible job with the meta tags, and obviously did some keyword stuffing.

If I change the title and keywrds for my client what is the best way to do this, the main keyword we are targeting is Chicago Personal Trainer, Youth Fitness Trainer Chicago, Fitness Trainer Chicago, Chicago Fitness Trainer and a few others.

His description looks downright tacky when I do a google search for the site. and the title isn't look any better. They are obviously too long.

What's the best way to change these without effecting the placement of the site and does changing it effect the site?

<title>Tri-Fitness, Ron Munvez, chicago personal trainer, chicago personal training, personal training, personal trainer, here some other, weight loss, exercise, sparq trainer, sparq training, speed and agility, fitness, fitness trainer, get faster, run faster, personal training company, sports performance trainer, youth fitness trainer, youth personal trainer, youth fitness, baseball training, Sports Performance Training Company, Training and Sports, Training, Sports, fitness, sports performance</title>

My suggestion, assuming Tri-Fitness is the name of the site. Edit as needed to fit character limits.

    <title>Chicago Personal Trainer - Ron Munvez - Tri-Fitness</title>
<meta name="description" content="Ron Munvez provides Quality Personal Training in Chicago. Services include Weight Loss, Sparq Training, Fitness, sports performance.">

My suggestion is, that if you have no idea about meta tags,
then why are you doing SEO for any clients?

Meta tags are not rocket science.

And you should know that meta keywords is a useless tag.
And meta description has nothing to do with rankings anyway.
A short, sweet one is all you need.

Seriously, if you don't know what to do with the useful meta tags,
why are you in the SEO biz? It's the most basic of basic things.

      Now that's the real answer.

        Paul,

His website guy said that it would effect his placement, and that guy being in the business of SEO and web development I had to clarify.

I thought it didn't matter, but I had to double check, being that it did come from someone that is in the business of SEO.

A lot of the work in SEO, Article Writing, Backlinks, and blog commenting have been outsourced to people more qualified. But being on the forum asking questions has helped me to learn myself more and more. I have been working very hard completing his getlisted(dot)org. I have been backlinking on edu sites and other blogs, and directories. Listing on several directories I find to get more links on do-follow and no-follow links.

We have been doing email marketing, twitter sms, mobile marketing, mobile website, auto-responder series, and much more than just SEO for him.

As a result of my marketing he has seen 13 new and return clients and made over $5000 profit in 3 months, and I am learning very fast.

I am new to SEO yes, but I am getting better every day, but when I find something I can't do I ask for help or outsource it. If you have something valuable to add instead of trying to belittle someone why don't you let me know. I would love to hear what you know about SEO, and someone else on here probably would too if they are searching for someone such as yourself with such a vast array of knowledge on the subject of SEO.

We should all be so lucky to be graced with the presence of such a knowledgeable individual as yourself.

Thank you for the help either way, I hope you have a very happy day.

Wow, that's pretty terrible. Keep the title tag under 70 characters with your top targeted KW first. Include KWs in the meta description but keep it persuasive so that you get a decent click thru rate. Kill the meta KW tag, it's useless at this point. Good luck with that.
