I use shared hosting and I've been experiencing server throttling more than a month now. So i did everything i could including updating plugins,WP,transfer files to AZ cloud etc. When I checked the error logs it seems my neighbors are causing the issues. So I asked blue host to check but it didn't work out either.

Now all of my sites are down. Can't take it anymore so going moving to a VPS. Lemme know what VPS you or your friends using at the moment? Suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi,

Yes many people have been facing the same kind of problem (CPU Throttling) with BlueHost. I can't believe they can afford to loose clients.

I moved my sites to HostGator and I'm very happy with the performance. And I have only shared account with them.

I've been having the exact same problem on a shared hosting platform though. It seems these shared servers are overloaded to the max and because there are so many other sites running on them it's inevitable that someone else will cause your site problems.

VPS or Dedicated is the only way to go. If you're in the US then i can't recommend anyone but in the UK heart, fasthosts and 123 are offering cost effective packages.

Thanks a lot for the update. I have many of my sites hosted on Bluehost. Even though I didn't face any problem with my sites so far, but I will have to make things clear with them about my sites security.

I'd check out StormOnDemand if you can pretty much answer your own basic questions regarding why stuff doesn't work. Otherwise I'd look into a more managed solution such as ServInt or PowerVPS.

i had this same problem with blue host. it drove me the rest of the way to insane!

besides the issue of not being able to work on my websites for any length of time cause i would get fire walled out, if i sold a site i would have to back up and download all 100+ websites to get the files of the one....

    until...
    one day.....
they finally added my ip to their server and i have not had a problem since!

why they didnt do this a year ago i dont no

i also found out that when i thought my sites were down they weren't. they were just blocking my ip. so, try to access your sites from a different ip and see if they show.

i do have an additional hosting account now (go daddy) because of the aggravation but like i said, since they added my ip to their approved list i'm good.

maybe they can do the same for you.

when i worked on a website for any length of time, or would keep going into the admin panel i would eventually get a "not found on server" or something to that effect. it would lock me out of all the sites on that server. so if i tried to log on to any of my websites they would not be found.

but, if i used a proxy i could bring up or log into any and all of my websites, until i would be blocked out again.

any time i was blocked (i'm calling it blocked because that is what the voda tech called it) it would last about 15 minutes and then i could get back onto the sites.

anyway, the fix was the same as if you were adding a "allow site" to your browser. they just added my ip address to there "allow" on there server. i have not had a single (knock on wood) problem since!

i'm glad i added godaddy to my hosting accounts cause all of my domains are bought from them, but i like the functions of having a c-panel in voda.

i hope this will help you. i went through this for at least a year be fore one of vodas techs figured out what was going on and a fix.
