Pushing Through Fear: Creating a Plan

(I had intended to post in the main Internet Marketing Forum. Since I can't delete this post, I'll leave it here because I'm unsure how to get it into the area I had intended. Sorry about that.)

I'm new to posting on this site, but have been lurking off and on for about a year. I've also been dabbling in IM for about that same amount of time. I say dabbling because until recently, I hadn't put the effort into achieving my goals. As I've started on this path again, I've spent a lot of time analyzing why I hadn't put more time and effort into this before. I absolutely believe that IM can be a successful venture.

I had to dig deep to discover that the biggest obstacle (for me) was fear. It sounds silly, but I worried that I didn't know enough. I studied everything I could. I made feebile attempts, but that 'I don't have a clue what I'm doing' thinking would stop me in my tracks. Not this time. I still have the fear of not knowing enough, but I'm pushing through it and finding my way forward. Right now, I'm at the point where I usually stumble: Creating backlinks to my site. I know the steps, I think. I don't claim to know everything; in fact, I don't claim to know a quarter, but I do know where to start. For the first time, I have a plan.

Now, my question is: Is my plan feesible? Does it make sense, and is it possible to achieve success if I keep going with my current plan of action? This is where I'm hoping to get advice and suggestions from those who have a bit more experience.

My daily routine looks like this:
  1. Writing and submitting articles to various directories. This method is one I heard of here, and then later saw on Pat Flynn's blog. My first tier was set up last week, and already I might have a few problems. I'm going to wait and see, and just move forward with the next steps.
  2. Targeted Blog commenting
  3. Social bookmarking of new content
  4. Directory Submissions (10 a day is what I have listed, though I've been trying to determine if these are worth the effort)
  5. Forum Posting

I chose to start with Amazon reviews simply because Amazon is well known, and I had hoped that being a trusted site would increase my sales, and possibly make up for the things I haven't learned yet. I'm not sure if that will be the case, but I had to start somewhere, and this felt like something I could manage just starting out.

I haven't mastered SEO yet, but I think I have a decent handle on it. I'm still learning as I go along and making changes here and there. I think this will just be an aspect of IM that gets stronger the more you work it.

So I guess where I am is building backlinks, and not getting frustrated when/if something isn't working. (Or not stopping the forward momentum simply because fear of doing it wrong or not good enough kicks my butt now and then.) That said, are there any methods that I could be utilizing that I'm not currently? Are any of the methods in my daily routine not worth the time I'm putting into them?
