What is the difference between Twitter, and merely using the Facebook Wall to post messages and pictures.

I honestly have no idea.

If someone would have come to me with the Twitter idea, I would have said:

"Can't you just do that on your Facebook Wall?"

Ideas?

Thanks!

Facebook is for connecting with your friends. Sharing private stuff and all that. In Facebook, only your friends can see what you post.

Twitter is for connecting with your followers (People who aren't your friends but might have the same interests as you). In Twitter, you don't have to approve your followers, so anyone can see what you're posting.

People use them for various reasons. It really depends on the user why he/she prefers to post via Twitter instead of Facebook.

In other words - In Facebook you have your friends. In Twitter you have people you wish were your friends

Ah that is a good point.

Couldn't someone tweak their Facebook Privacy Settings, such that their wall behaved pretty much like Twitter does?

Facebook made something similar called the Subscribe button, which many do not know how to use. Many are more used to Twitter.

Another additional thing about Twitter is you can make mention of people who aren't your friends, and discuss a topic with the hashtag.

Facebook: Requires two-way verification for full sharing between two people. If someone doesn't accept your friend request, you most likely can't see what they are up to, because most people stick with default strong privacy settings. Facebook is more for your tight circle of friends where you can share events such as birthday parties and share pictures of them and yourself.

Twitter: You can follow just about anyone you want, Obama, Kevin Rudd, major celebrities and your friends. Just click follow and you see a real news feed from everyone your following.

You can also search all tweets from all people on twitter and you can only search your own friends and those you subscribe to on facebook.

I love them both as they both have very useful and fun features and uniquenesses.

Plus, some people are more on twitter and some people are more on facebook, even when they have both accounts, so it is best to be on both.

Fortunately, I have facebook and twitter connected so posting on one posts on both.

I also connected twitter to all my other social networks that allowed it and put updates on my phone so by writing a simple text message, I can update most of my social networks.

As you know Facebook and twitter both are social network sites. The millions peoples are using these sites. With both sites easily we are connecting our friends circle or make new friends.

but here in Facebook we contact with friends who knows me. simply in Facebook we can use privacy, only that person visit your profile who add on your friends list.

But in twitter every person can see your profile and check your privacy, that person can visit your profile who not add your friends list.
