The only people that will tell you that link velocity has any importance are ones selling low quality links (because if you jam a whole bunch of really ****ty links at a site at once without doing it consistently the site rankings can bounce all over the place) or people selling link drip feed services.

Other than that, link velocity is a whole bunch of nonsense.

      Link Velocity is something like
Week 1: You build 1 backlink to your website
      Week 2: You build 10
      Week 3: You build 80
      Week 4: You build 200

Its the increasing amount of backlinks you build to your site over a period of time. It must keep increasing so Google will detect the increased importance of your website and rank you high.

If week 1: You build 200 bls, week 2: 100bls, week 3: 10bls. Google will detect a decrease importance on your site and won't rank you as high as a website increasing their backlinks overtime.

You should ask for your money back on that WSO.

I agree with akazzz, only thing I would change is I would not have a exact amount each day, like example first week do 1 or 2 maybe 3, then next day do 2, maybe 4... I then increase backlinks gradually so it looks natural to google and to them looks like your site is gaining popularity. Of course backlinks need to be good quality, and your links in content related to your topic.
With new blog this is kind of important keep up your backlinking, for a long period of time or google will not reward you for your effort.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions I am glad to help....

      Pretty much this.

Drip feeding links is cool, cause you don't have to worry about the whole thing while it's running. Problem is that most drip-feed link systems offer very low quality backlinks. To me drip-feeding links means something completely different than link velocity. Link velocity is just complete nonsense some SEO guru came up with (probably).

Totally agree, but I would stay away from that now and concentrate on authority links back to your money site.

Use high volume links to those authority links and blog posts etc.

Nice approach, I like it.. haha... Bottom line, build high quality links.. 100 quality related.. not 10000 unrelated trash spam.

Link velocity is building backlinks and timely manner. Like only build few backlinks but consistent. Correct me if I'm wrong, this is just my opinion

When you create backlinks of your site by following the rules and regulations of search engines. So at which speed you create these links fro mother high pagerank sites. The speed at which you create backlinks of your site is called link velocity.

Basically link Velocity technique is an organic link building technique which has a history of success. It is definitely time consuming but it also accuracy and definitely long term ranking position.

You don't want to go from having no links to all of a sudden having 1000 links the next day and then the day after that you have no links again. This sort of patter is obviously unrealistic and your links will count for nothing.

I partly agree to this, but really, Google won't pick up all the links you build right away anyways. I think personally that, say you are mass posting, then you ping all of them, you are telling them "hey, here are 1000 links (I just posted myself), here they are, index them for me please".. in that sense, pinging can be more harmful than setting up 1000 links and letting the search engines find them naturally. But yes, if you are worried about "link velocity" in the first place, you probably should spread them out over time.

Another thing to consider though, is viral types of sites, where it might gain a massive surge in backlinks just because of the viral nature of the material.. nobody gets penalized for that. But I wouldn't press my luck and go gaining 10000000 links in one day.. I would guess in the 10-1000 ranges/day shouldn't even raise any flags. Nobody knows the threshold of google's triggers.. except maybe Mr. Cutts lol!

Link velocity is defined as speed when you add incoming links to your site. But actual meaning of link velocity is accurate. The most important factor to get high ranking in search engine is back links and high link velocity will tell where you need to be faster.

I agree with Mosa here, there is a world wide of difference between getting 1000 links in 1 day or spreading them out over 1 month.

You wanna see proof? Order one of those 700 blogpost services at this forum. What will happen is that your rankings jump up high and within the same week they bounce back. I've tried one of these services myself in the past and I shoot up from #7 to #4 for a tough kw and dropped down to #6 the day after and it stayed there.

Would those 700 posts be dripfeeded then I would've moved to #4 and stayed there. Afterall 100 ALN posts dripped over a few weeks took care of that later and 100 is a lot less then 700.

So there is certainly something to say about Link Velocity.

What's even worse is negative link velocity though (if you can express it in those words). Blasting a lot of links and seeing a lot of links getting removed after. Spamming on itself is not specifically that bad, the poor links that you lose soon after (deleted cause of spam) is the part that hurts your rankings.

What is the rate a real website acquires links? I would imagine for the average new website, 1,000 links a month is UNNATURAL.

If your website gets 1,000 links a month for six months and then 0 for six months, Google probably decides the 'viral impact' is over and reduces rankings.

Link velocity is nothing more than a term that means "the rate at which you build backlinks". It is not any specific strategy.

Link velocity does matter - it should reflect a natural backlink profile. For most sites (trending topics aside), it also should ideally match the rate at which content is added. In other words, the more pages you build the more backlinks your site can absorb at once because that is a natural for a growing site. I wouldn't go and throw a bunch of links at a site that was not getting fresh content on a regular basis.

That said, any sort of automated or "unnatural" backlinks have fallen out of Google's favor lately (to put it lightly). If you are building backlinks "naturally" there is little chance of issues with link velocity.

In other words lets say you had an aggressive link building campaign on your site for the first month and then you suddenly stopped building links for the next 2-6 months. Now thats a bad link velocity.

Whatever number of links you start out to build you need to be able to maintain...and I do not mean using some sort of software to throw tons of links at your site. You need to have links to your inner pages as well as the main page. So if you start with 2 and the 5 and then 10 links per day then you need to maintain that pace and at least have ten everyday...If you want to increase the link velocity then you can but you need to be able to maintain that pace.

I've found that constantly building links seems to give me great results.

But that's just from my testing, apparently Mike has had a different experience.

My advice? Test around and see what works for you?
