I think a successful SEO campaign should include a variety of sources and not be too heavily reliant on one method. So something like a combo of dofollow backlinks , social bookmarks, high PR blog comments should get you good results

Backlinks are most crucial factor in SEO.Without having backlinks,a website can not perform well over SEs.Social bookmarking is best method to create traffic as well as backlinks.So we should use social bookmarking technique to get some exposure for our website.

try to do link exchange with websites related to your area (reciprocal not 3 way etc) and you will get at least PR3 at the next update if you have done almost 100 lnks.

The both are very use full for your web site,with back links you will get high PR and if you submit link on social bookmarking sites it's helps to get the more traffic to your post as well as help to increase back links for your web site.

Social book marking is best for getting traffic and some back link. But a quality back linking is best for page rank. There should be relevant site for back links.
