Why Do People Seem To Hate Sescout?

I just signed up for a free trial of Sescout, SerpFox, and Microsite Masters. All of the seem cool but Sescout is definitely got the best layout in my opinion. I also love the idea of constant rank tracking. Not that I need hourly tracking necessarily but once a day isn't enough for me otherwise Microsite Masters would be great. I have had too many big fluctuations happen at odd hours to sit and twiddle my thumbs until the next day to see where everything landed.

Well back to my question. Why do people seem to hate Sescout? I was ready to pull the trigger and sign up and then I read around here how people keep saying to avoid it.

Sescout is crap. I used them for months and moved away.

    1. Not accurate.
    2. Your data will disappear at some point. It will crash. It won't track your keywords for week - randomly.
    3. It's basically crap.

Just google "sescout" with forum search on in Google. They're a complete disaster.

Tracking once daily is enough, you shouldn't be checking rankings more than once per day (procrastination much?).

I disagree. I mean I don't need hourly but I need at least twice a day. I have too many sites with too many fluctuations to rely solely on 1 tracking a day. I am always testing the boundaries of the google algo and to not have an option to see if something impacted my rankings until 12pm the next day is just too long. Especially now when Google has started crawling the net so much faster. People like to say that SEO is a gradual process, I think it used to be, these days I can have a boat load of keywords move hundreds of spots in hours and I can have keywords rank 1st page on the 1st day. Without a few trackings a day I feel I will not be able to accurately see what some of my tests and methods are really doing.

I used SeScout for 6 months or more last year and the service was one of the worst I had ever experienced.

I sent in a support ticket one time because the rankings weren't updating, 2 weeks later still no response, so I sent in another ticket. A few days later I finally got a rude, half assed response that didn't answer the question at all.

They are notorious for not answering support emails/tickets. The service is down or not working properly all the time. In that 6 months I was there, there was at least 2-3 months without proper service and when it was working, it wasn't accurate most of the time.

I will admit, their layout, etc., is very nice. But customer support and downtime/errors caused me to leave. I don't recommend it at all, I know a couple of people that still use it and the problems have not gotten any better from what I hear.

*edit*, by the way, I was using a premium account, not a free one. So all of this was going on while I was a paying customer. A couple of weeks after I cancelled my account they sent me an email wondering why I had left. I replied with much the same response as above and they offered me a free month to come back. lol. While it is a nice gesture, that doesn't make up for the few months I paid for an unreliable/non-working service.

patrich, I had the exact same experience with sescout. **** them. Logged in one day to find all of my tracking history/data gone (about 2 months worth of data) - great. They never fixed it and I ended up moving to a different provider.

Regarding hourly tracking - nonsense. You don't need it. If you're "pushing the boundaries" of the Google algo - check those keywords manually while the tests are running. Why on earth would you ever rely on a pretty inaccurate web based tracker for tests like that?

Brilliant, reliable and accurate are the three words that come to mind when asked to describe it.

I have been using sesscout for about a month and I have been very pleased with it. I think they have just done a pretty major overhaul of the site and got new severs. Rnaking check seems to be accurate and overall I have been pleased.

I have just done a free trial with authority labs they are more expensive but make claims to the most accurate

I also dont see through out the other services that they track other countries which is a big thing for me as I have a lot of UK clients.

Anyone know if fox supports that?

Fox website isnt the best for explaining what it does it says four hourly data but says daily information which is it?

Its every 4 hours. Ive been using them for a few days and have been very pleased. I only have 1 gripe and that is that each keyword should be tracked for both Google and Bing. Serpfox makes you re-enter the keyword if you want bing tracking and counts as 2 separate keywords.

SeScout has terrible problems with reliability. They even forgot to renew their domain name at one point (so everyone who went to SeScout.com got a parked page).

If you are looking at SerpFox I would also take a look at MicrositeMasters. MicrositeMasters is priced better than SerpFox and has more features if I recall correctly.

I'd be interested in seeing which is most reliable out of all three of those providers (AuthorityLabs, MicrositeMasters, and SerpFox).

Microsite Masters is great, I use that for free for a couple of sites of mine but daily tracking is just not enough for me.

For those who get outraged by the concept that I need tracking more then once a day then heres an example why. Today I had 1 page I have been ranking for about a month all of a sudden start bringing in traffic. Microsite Masters has the the 10 main keywords all still ranked in the 30's because it updated this morning. Serpfox now has all those keywords on page #1. With Microsite Masters I have to twiddle my thumbs until noon tomorrow to see where I landed and whats going on. Or I can do manual searches, but with over 30 sites thats a very tall order. If I am paying for tracking I want to see where I rank at all hours of the day.

You can pull the search rank out of the search referrer. That's how we do it, and it's totally passive.

              https://www.keywordstrategy.org/1229...y-tracks-rank/

It has its downsides too, of course, but it's nice to have a method of determining rank that doesn't scrape Google.

I'm just saying that basing your business on doing something that Google doesn't want you to do is a limited path. The more successful you are, the more Google seeks ways to shut you down... like what happened to BMR.

Wow. This service sucks balls. Just signed up. Put in a bunch of domains, keywords, then went to organise them into groups and they all disappeared. Put in a request for refund and cancellation, haven't heard back yet.

The rankings i did see before i organized them were way off.

The service is clearly not as advertised. I did some research into others experiences, and found this :

                http://www.**********.com/shooting-*...nce-truth.html

That link is from ********** - Warrior isn't posting it for some reason. Do a google search for 'SEScout Scam' - you'll find it.
The 'Owner' of SEScout, 'Joshua' actually responds in this thread with what can only be described as vile and the worst customer service response i've ever read. Be warned - there's some foul language there coming from SEScout's 'Joshua' where he tells his customers where 'they can shove it'. Unbelievable.

Interestingly, the other 'Founder' of SEScout, 'Ryan' has posted on his Twitter account that he's no longer 'associated' with the product.

All-up - AVOID!!! Seriously, these people should not be doing business, full stop.

@ericnelsonator - It just depends on your method of tracking rank. If you're scraping Google, there's only so far you'll be able to scale your business. You're dependent on Google not blocking your clients from checking their rank.

    Customer service none existing.
Unreliable both in terms of result and up time/service. Sometime they disable major functions for long period of times.
They don't seem to give a **** and could disappear along with your data and history any day.

I've used sescout for months now and have finally had enough. Disappearing data, incomplete reports and nobody seems to give a ****.

My feeling is that they really don't know what to do to provide reliable service and have taken to just deleting emails and support tickets instead of dealing with them.

I've tried being nice and I've tried being a dick and it hasn't changed anything about their "customer service". Now I'm just being a dick to entertain myself

It seems that the only way to get their attention is to close your account, which I'm looking to do.

I'm gonna look into serpfox and the others listed in here- I can't be not able to pull client data when I need to.

I really don't want to use market samurai for rank tracking anymore, it's slow as **** and I have no patience for that.

I'm also somebody who likes to track like crazy sometimes. Other times, I like to chill out and not worry about it but when I want it or a client wants a quick screenshot of where they are, I want that **** to work without any problem as often as possible. Not a blip almost every time I use it.

Cliff's: sescout can relax it's jaw and pay mind to the stepchildren.

Good Luck in trying to get a refund from the founder- Joshua. It's been 4 days since i requested a refund under their trial 10 day refund policy - listed in their T&C's.

He's ignored 3 support requests, he's ignored attempts to contact him on twitter. In short, this guy is a scammer, and has no problem leaving paying customers without a service that works, and without any ability to get their money back.

As it stands, i can't cancel my account, because the system won't allow it, as it's completely screwed up and 'lost' all my keywords. Even though it's got a couple of hundred that i put in there, that it's supposed to be tracking, they're not viewable, and they're virtually 'lost'

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! The worst experience i've had with any product!!!

^^ none of those can be scaled accurately. If you're serious about tracking (or need it for clients, etc) and don't want to spend your valuable time managing things by hand - you need a SaaS solution. They're extremely cheap these days and offer amazing features with minimal effort required from the user.

Anyone have anything good to say about it since then?

I haven't had any problems with it, I use the free plan though.

EDIT: It also seems to me that since they're seemingly doing more, real-time, 24/7 tracking, than the others, it's a more difficult task and thus perhaps more problems.

Trust me, just stay away from them. We all got sucked in because their layout is really good and lure of hourly updates sounded cool. Sooner rather than later, you good experience will turn bad. Happens every time.

I'm not even sure they maintain that site at all, they just leave it up to get money from suckers who don't do a little investigating before they buy.

Don't waste anytime doing some troubleshooting for them. We've all been there and done that already. All the possible reasons for why they are unable to deliver a consistent service has been talked about by all of us before. Sescout doesn't listen, so don't even waste you time thinking about it.

Just move on and you can wear a t-shirt like the rest of us that says, "I survived SeScout"

  • I was with SEScout for over a year on the top $99.95 plan. Only because I couldn't find anything better. Lots of downtime and a few times had to scrap my data and start over. Basically it's not very good, but probably the best I could find at the time.

Anyway as soon as SECockpit announced their own rank tracker I jumped right in, only $30 p/m and does daily rank checks. Daily is all you really need.

Not sure if the price is $30 for everyone? I have the KW tool too which might make it cheaper for me.

If anyone wants a free tracker, I've been pleasantly surprised with Rankerizer. I've compared their ranking results to Raven and they're pretty spot on. And thought it's desktop software, I also haven't had any issues being blocked by Google like I did when trying Traffic Travis. That said, serpfox does look good and has great pricing (about 2x cheaper than Microsite Masters). Histats is free, but doesn like track ranking by keyword or just traffic by keyword?
