How much do you need to start PPC?

I want to try PPC marketing either with google adwords or yahoo.
I wanted to know how much capital is needed to learn PPC and start being profitable? I plan on promoting affiliate products from Commision Junction and/or ClickBank. I tried PPC before with google adwords and invested $80 and made 1 $30 sale, but stopped because I didn't have any more money to invest. So how much capital is a good starting point? $500? $1000? More? Or could I start with like $200 or $300? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I do about £30 a day and always make sure my ads are very targetted and use 2/3 word long keyword phrases and monitor them closely and tweak as required.

Well the simple answer to your questions is that there is no simple answer. There are many factors that go into how much money should be spent. First you should do some keyword research to determine what keywords you should use for your campaign and also the competitiveness of the industry you are trying to promote needs to be taken into consideration as well as your budget. The best advice would be to either spend a little time learning about adwords first otherwise you will just be burning your money. The other idea you could consult with a professional on your PPC campaign so they can help you out.

I think the smarter your PPC campaigns are the less money you will need to make it work, just split it in the right places and as they told you before, 10 bucks a day is a reasonable budget.

        Hi

I asked more or less the same question.

Here is what I was answered by MarQueteer:

"I normally wait about a week before making a decision, shorter when the traffic volume is high, but at least 1000 clicks I'd say. Keep in mind that depending on the product or service, conversions can be very different on weekdays, weekends, day and night, holidays, etc, so it's always good to have a longer period of time than just a short snapshot. So, if in doubt, cut your daily budget to 10% and let it run for 10 days instead of spending it all in one day."

Conclusion : think in terms of clicks rather than $$$.

This is not a game of 10 or 20. It is a game of 1000 and more. Have a time horizon of a year. All super affiliates are not supper in a year or with spends in 100 0f dollars. They have put in 2-3 years and 10 of thousands.

This is reality. Think hard and make your plan.

          Best Luck.

In PPC Classroom not sure if you have heard of the product or not.. Amit Mehta recommended that you need at least $100 to test a niche if its successfull or not and out of 10 niche you try only 1 or 2 will be winners..

The most important thing in PPC is tracking your keywords so make sure you have a method of tracking otherwise you are gonna loose 100's of bucks..
