I heard that since everyone and their dawg has been swapping links...Google is no longer considering this to be relevant.

Anybody hearing that swaping links between websites isn't doing anything anymore?

Bases on my personal experience I think its still works, but I would think it would have a much better effect if you dont link to each other directly.
    Meaning:

website 1 links to website 2
website 2 doesn't link to website 1 but links to another website that the website one owner has.

So each party gets one way backlink.

For the past couple of years, I've been hearing that only one way links are of any value in Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

So, when folks email me wanting to "exchange links", I pass since it's of no value to SEO

It all depends on where the link is coming from i.e. relevance.

Linking from a site about lawn mowing to a site about computers - Not relevant to link in any manner (one way or reciprocal).

Focus on whether a link makes sense to a real person. If it does, use the link.

Also be sure to check the quality of the content on the site you are getting a link from. While you generally won't get penalised by any site linking to you (otherwise you could take out a competitor just by linking to them from a number of "low quality" sites) a site that has authority and is trusted in the search engines is going to pass on some of the authority to you (and thus be more valuable).

Ask yourself this "If I were not an Internet Marketer, would I still link to this site" from my site. If the answer is yes it's probably worth your time chasing up that link.

Google really wants to give their customers (people using their search engines) the best experience and as a result any link can help your website if it involves a relevant site with good content and hopefully some authority.

    Cheers

I'm seeing on other SEO forums... that Reciprocal links between websites cancel each other out and are of no value anymore... complete waste of time as far as SEO is concerned.

Yes google now not consider link exchange more in providing the results and this method of exchanging links not affect site results more. So instead of this try to get one way links.

I think it still has an effect but not as much as it had before. The search engines has raised other link value compare to reciprocal links. Even then I still think there is still a little value from reciprocal links.

Up to now we are still doing reciprocal links on our sites.

You can build up a high PR dummy site and ask people to link to your money site in exchange for a link on your link site. That will show no connection in google.
