Hi,
Hope you are doing fine.

I have developed a website and did some work on SEO for this website. Finally i got google page rank 2 right now.

I have installed a web rank toolbar for my firefox browser and I am wondering to see the result e.g.

page indexed at:

Google = 144
bing = 6
Yahoo = 0

and backlinks are:

Google = 0
Bing = 71
Yahoo = 0
Alexa = 50

I am wondering if Google has 144 pages indexed then why yahoo dont have indexed? in addition if Bing detected 71 backlinks to my website then why google and yahoo can't detect?

Furthermore, How can i know that if i am creating backlink then this backlink will be counted from which search engine? how can i know?

any advise please?

Thanks in advance.
Regards

  • You will find that if you SEO your site for Google, it will more than likely show up in similar results for Yahoo. Not always of course, but more or less if you can rank page one for Google, you won't be far behind in Yahoo.

    Personally, I just focus on Google and count any other traffic as a bonus.

      There are sites that google will just not love.

      I have a site #1 on yahoo. It is not even indexed by
      google. Site is 4+ years old. Go figure.

      I have another site #1 on google. Not indexed by
      yahoo/bing. Go figure. That site is 3+ years old.

      Before anyone screams, yes I know. Google and yahoo are
      two distinct search engines. One would not expect same
      results on both. But, logically speaking, if google loves a site,
      you'd think it would be at least indexed and rank somewhere else,
      even if it's #50.

      One reason I made up my mind long ago to generate my
      own traffic and not rely on anything else.

        Yahoo! has more original content to it, while Google is more about simply pointing you to whatever it is that you are searching for.

    Google is better search engine than Yahoo and it is also more popular. It provide lots of different types of services and also lots of tools related to different services.

      You almost have to feel sorry for Yahoo, what with the word Google being their most searched keyword.

    It's a difficult one to answer since both companies are positioned very very differently; on face value, Yahoo looks hip and colorful, whereas Google looks simple and elegant; (...) Google is more thoughtful and strategic, Yahoo is flamboyant and more reactive; Google concentrates on value added solutions rather than presentation and Yahoo concentrates on superb presentation followed by value creation."

    As not all the search engines have the same algo for providing the results. so as per the distinct algorithms, you get various results for your site.
