I have my own website promoting natural health products but not good at getting traffic. Help help help....oh and thanks for the quick reply.

From you question above, i can deduce that you only watched the video and didn't do anything else.

First select from where you want to drive traffic then use all of your energy to make it successful.
    Free Traffic ?
    SEO
    Forums
    Article marketing
    Comments on relevant blogs

    Paid Traffic ?
    PPC
    PPV
    Media Buying
    Social Networks

Every single way is a complete different way then the other so first select one and then go for it

    Best of luck.

Since you're just starting out in the IM arena there's no better place for you than this forum to learn everything you need to know about getting traffic. It will take you some time though and remember to also take action.

      Good luck.

Try some PPC campaigns? Maybe some directory submissions or try and tweak features on your sites to get it ranked better on search engines and for SEO.

Forum traffic is free. Maybe start some keyword research and link building. If you pick some longtail keywords you can rank pretty easy depending on competition.

    Cheers

You'll definitely find a lot of great information in here from everything so take it all in a day at a time and just try some different avenues. You could also try working on a method a week or every other week and rotating. Here are some options:

    Article Marketing
    - Ezine Articles
    - ArticlesBase
    - GoArticles
    - Squidoo
    - Hubpages

Forum Marketing - do a Google search for forums in your niche, join a few of the more trafficked ones, create a brief profile and signature with your link (if the forum allows, just don't make it spammy sounding), and start posting good replies in the forums. You can try to post at least 5 - 10 posts a day in each forum you join.

Twitter Marketing - Get a following on Twitter if you don't have it already. Searching and replying to people's tweets can help you build some traffic as well.. have conversations with them, and try to get your link in there.

Facebook Marketing - Same concept as above to a degree... join FB groups of your niche and contribute thoughts, links, and an occasional URL link of your site.

    PPC (Pay per Click Marketing)
    - Google Adwords (make sure you know how to use this before you try. It can be costly if you don't know what you're doing)
    - Yahoo/Bing Advertising (same as above)
    - Adbrite
    - Bidvertiser
    - Chitika

Email Marketing - if you have a site that has an opt in list, this will help you build repeat traffic to your customers when you post new content or promote new items.

Forum Marketing - look for high visited forums in your niche and post honest thoughts and replies. Most blogs will usually allow your website to be posted up.

Youtube Marketing - create some videos in your niche, optimize them with keywords related to your niche, and build traffic via the video. You can also use Dailymotion or other video sites to do the same.

Search Engine Optimization - optimize your sites with keywords that relate to your field that have high traffic and low competition. This will take awhile but will eventually build good organic traffic regularly when you optimize properly.

    Classified Ads
    - Craigslist
    - Backpage
    - USFreeAds

Fiverr - Create a gig that is of interest to your audience that can also link back to your site in some way.

    Offline Marketing
    - Flyers
    - Radio Ads
    - PS3 and XBox Networks

This is what I can think of off the top of my head. There are other things you can try and do though and tweak to your needs. Hope this is of great help to you (or anyone else that may have the same questions or frustration in mind). Some work greater than others but it's all related to your niche and above all, how dedicated you are to pushing the traffic your way. Best of luck on your traffic building!

PS: I didn't suggest sites that allow you to surf lots of sites in 30 seconds each (paid to surf I believe they're called?) because I don't know that it does much. Also, if you have Adsense, this is not allowed and it can and more than likely will result in banning your Adsense account. Hope this helps

      Great post!

Read through this post and choose whatever techniques you find most suitable to your particular needs. You can use any combination of the above.

Just remember that if you use Twitter, Facebook or any forums, don't spam or ask people to visit your site. Contribute intelligently so that they actually wish to visit it to find out more about you

What is your website? What niche are you in? Are you trying to sell "make money online" products, or "internet marketing" products..... or something that's within a small, non-marketing niche?

When I first started IM (only been doing this for about 6 months lol), I thought getting traffic was the most important thing. But then I got traffic, lot's of it, and I realized that the quality of the traffic is way more important than the amount.

So my advice would be to focus on marketing on sites, forums, blogs, etc that are specifically targeted to your niche. For example if your selling dog collars (random I know), focus on finding places where people love there pets and are looking for a dog collar.

The best places to get traffic are normally where your potential customers spend the most time. So if it's Facebook, create a fan page and some facebook ads. If it's forums, then get involved in those particular forums. Don't spam them though.

But if you want to cut your time in half, and do a little less manual labor, then I found that creating a Youtube video with a targeted keyword title ranks quickly and can easily reach the front page of Google for non competitive keywords. Also Guest blogging for popular sites in your niche can really bring in a lot of traffic quickly.

    Hope that helped!

Genycis said it all. You're actually doing one of the good tactics to get traffic. I think Genycis mentioned it, too. Join forums, and reply on threads just like the rest of us did here. Just do it genuinely and not solely for the sake of getting traffic for your site.

Another thing I could add would be blogging. That takes advantage of the "freshness" factor, especially if you're writing about something that's trending, just as Avy Smith said.

Depending on what you are promoting, but you could always try Traffic Exchanges, Text Ad Exchanges, Safelists, and Solo Ads. Again, depends on what you are promoting and how much time you have to put in.

Great post and loads of useful advice. Quality is definitely more important than quantity when it comes to making money online (as opposed to just getting your traffic stats up). Think about who will buy your stuff and where they congregate, then go and join them, contribute meaningfully, and then you can tell them how your product will help them. Good luck!

      Hi,

There's a lot of great information on this thread. Here are some of my thoughts.

Decide on a particular traffic strategy that you believe will work well and suits your needs. A paper and pen going through the pros and cons of each one is a good idea here.

Then, write a small traffic plan. Again using the pen and paper. Just some short bullet points on what you need to do to get some traffic going.

Make sure that this little plan includes when and how long you spend on traffic generation. How about 45 minutes a day or one how per morning or afternoon, depending on what your situation is.

Then switch off Outlook, and any other distractors, and take the required action.

One more thing which I can share with you. I spent months trying to generate traffic for a tiny niche and got nowhere. I eventually figured out that there wasn't any traffic and I needed to move into a bigger market with lots of people looking out for me.

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,

      John

Thanks for the compliments on the post. Just trying to share some information that could help. And yes indeed, do NOT spam in forums or post three word replies or they will ban you. Forums don't like sketchy posts and see it as a quick way of someone trying to promote but not contribute genuinely.

TTrain made a great point too which is 110% True! You want Targeted traffic that benefits you, not just an abundance of traffic in general. I'd rather have 1000 visitors a day that are targeted and have a chance of converting, than to have my site flooded with 10,000 people a day, to which only 200 of those 10,000 are really targeted and potentially interested in my site. In the end, lots of useless traffic is pretty much, useless.

I would say try Twitter and Craigslist since they are ranked 8 and 9 in the top ranked sited by Alexa. That's a lot of free traffic that can come your way.
