Market Samurai - Half Time Wash Up

We all know MS went through a crash N dive just past and to all and sundry we now have a re worked and supposedly workable version of MS according to the we are fixed emails.

Not bitchen because crap happens but this whole we are fixed stuff ? Does any one else find using Rank Tracker a complete pain in the backside, you have to site there in frustration and play with piddly little updates but more so results just completely drop out / so a ranked key will all of a sudden drop to 0 and the only way to get it back is to run the very limited RT again, it's like a bad partner where it is so unpredictable that you never know what hissy fit and tantrum it will take next.

My fault I got so pissed with the updates and the loss of data that i hit all to update and now my system copped the google evil eye, and yes i done it out of frustration, so not sure how they claim it to be fixed when it craps me to a point that I am nearly over it.

Then there is the whole bing connection, I do not buy that and it seems they can dance the light fandango around that question, as to justifying the inclusion of bing but never answer why just not use G ?

Anyway rant over and I am sure they will fix this thing but testing ones patience for sure.

Is it still good to use for keyword research or are their better options out there?

I think most people just use google keyword tool or other keywords tools and import the results into MS for faster use as it just draws from Google anyway ? or is it bing these days ?

I'm trying to decide whether to purchase MS or not so that's what I want to know. Is MS now pulling their kw research data from Bing instead of Google? ... and where is their competition data being sourced from?

No - they listed on their blog all they are using Bing for and it practically makes no difference to the end result. They are using Bing to pull the number of results in their index for the (practically useless) metric: SEOT/C

Google is still used for Keyword Research.

Competition analysis hasn't changed. It uses Google for PR and Majestic SEO for backlinks.

The Rank Tracker has been downgraded to pretty much what the competition offers: use your local system to conduct the queries and feel the wrath of Google when it says you have done too much. You can use proxies to get around it - always have been able to.

Does anyone have a preference over one of the two? Google keyword tool or or MS. I m interested in trying Market Samurai but don't want to bother if google has the same or better features.

    Any input?

Jesse, MS is just an interface to the Google Keyword Tool. The free version of MS actually gives you complete access to their Keyword Research module so just give it a try. I find working directly with the GKWT to be much faster though. I use MS purely for the SEO Competition module (which isn't free).

This is something that a lot of people aren't understanding. Market Samurai is now working like Rank Tracker (and most others). They now use your local connection to do the query. IF you used Rank Tracker before you tried with Market Samurai then the end result would have been the same - you will still end up being blocked by Google.

This problem is why MS used their cloud to do the queries on behalf of their customers. It worked so great because they did it differently to the rest. A connection on their cloud would cop in the ban instead of the customer. Google has however become more sensitive to repetitive queries that resemble a bot. They are temp banning faster than ever. These temp bans are why MS didn't want to do it this way.

You can avoid the delays by using proxies but this does add another cost and proxies don't last long either.

The problems you (and others) are experiencing with the MS Rank Tracker are not unique to MS.

Despite what people say MS is still a good buy.

Does it have kinks now? Yeah. Will it get fixed? Probably.

Bang for the buck it is probably the best keyword research tool out there. One-Time fee of $97 I have made my investment back thousands of times over with it.

Is there better out there? Of course. However bang for the buck? MS is probably the best.
