What domain "hack" looks better: d8ing or d8ting?

Hello,

I have 2 very similar domains in my ownership that have a prefix that is relevant to my niche. The domains end in the suffix:

d8ting.com

and

d8ing.com

what version looks more natural to you and what would you remember easier? d8ing OR d8Ting?

I can't seem to get over the feeling that the version with a "T" is, somehow, better... d8ting.com looks like a better domain than d8ing.com TO ME

What do you guys think if you had to chose one of the above what would your choice be?
(I will naturally use both but only one will be the main site the other just a redirect)

Thanks for any info!

In domaining a "hack" is a term used to describe names that are spelled with numbers and symbols and extensions for example 4ever or 2nite or con10t. Or the more common example would be del.icio.us that does not use numbers but domain levels. "Hack" is basically a programming term that denotes a "Trick" and not a security exploit.

Goo.gl is a good example as well

I agree with d8ting as well. It kind of adds a bit more emphasis on the 't' which some might miss if it wasn't there.

    Strange, isn't it?!

The domain without the T is clearly the more "correct" of the two, phonetically, because the T sound is already included in the "8". And yet, as you say, d8ting.com does seem much better. To me.

I was thinking the same exact thing. I was even trying to figure out why the T just screams out that it needs to be there and I just can't figure it out.

I think that d8ting.com looks better in my opinion. For some reason my eyes and brain just imagine the 8 as an "a" because it just fits in. For the d8ing.com one, I know that it is pronounced d-eight-ing so it seems like dating, but it also just looks like ding.

    That's just my two cents!

That's why! I was wondering too why it 'looked' better. Because it has the correct number of letters.

Thats it! It has the same number of letters! How obvious yet you were the only one to notice. It was bugging me why the "incorrect" version looks better LOL

Thanks for the feedback. I will go with d8ting but keep the d8ing.com as a redirect....

I first regged the d8ting.com version but then, after a second glance I was like NOOOOOO I made a mistake and was praying to god that the correct version was free, and it was...

They are very odd domains for 3 reasons:

      1) The d8ting version looks/sounds better than the correctly "hacked" d8ing.com version

      2) Both domains have a prefix (example vampired8ting.com) that make them actually more valuable than the plain version with just the suffix d8ting or d8ing.com. Common sense dictates that the shorter, more memorable domain will be easier to remember, give better "brand recognition" and over all be taken more seriously by people. But in this one isolated example the prefix + suffix are actually more valuable...

      3) In the niche that I am targeting d8ting.com sounds/looks better and is substantially more appreciated than the generic dating.com (even though I would trade them for dating.com no problem )

I like d8ting for the reason of less thinking involved for the reader. Dropping the t makes for many more questions not actually pertaining to the product behind the name.

It's got to be d8ting, didn't know what d8ing was when I looked at it, but when I looked
at d8ting I quickly realized it meant dieting j/k

    Seriously though go with d8ting

^^ This : When I was first reading, my VERY first impression of d8ing (other than being obvious now) was "What is that?" and then 1/2 second after, first impression of d8ting and I had the Ah-HA moment.

As Alexis pointed out, d8ing would be phonetically correct, however is less memorable. Possibly because of the -ing postfix....

I would probably use d8ting, and forward d8ing to it : If some blackguard points out the dastardly ways of your phonetically imperfect usage of d8ting, tell them you set up d8ing 'especially for them'
