Traffic is important and is vital to make money as we all know. But with a right placement and relevancy of ads your conversion rate can triple up. I have seen many micro niche sites with poor ad placements and non targeted products from Amazon.

For example you have a site on LCD TVs and your site is showing other electronic products from Amazon. It would make more sense for the customers to visit your affiliate link if they were all on LCD TV deal. Look at this example site: LG 32 TV | Best place to buy LG 32 inch monitor & TVs

You can get targeted product from Amazon by using their product search widget. It allows you to edit the size and colour both and get product feed using keyword.

The same principle works for Adsense as well. But it's hard to control what ad will appear sometimes. The simple code bellow has helped me a lot with Adsense:

The HTML tags to emphasize a page section take the following format:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

You can also designate sections you'd like to have ignored by adding a (weight=ignore) to the starting tag:

<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

With these tags added to your HTML code, your final code may look like the following:

<html><head><title>Section targeting</title></head>
<body>

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

This is the text of your webpage. Most of your content resides here.

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
</body>
</html>

So just add this codes before and ending of the most keyword rich contents of your site. It can be few lines from a paragraph. You can choose more than one content section. For more details click here What is section targeting and how do I implement it? - AdSense Help
