Pagination & Link Juice

Bear with me, as this might get a little confusing.

How does pagination affect link juice?

Say that you point a couple of PR4 links to a post on your website, and then every post in that category (say that there are 50) is displayed in the sidebar. Surely link juice is greatly diminished when there are this many posts, right?

But is there any difference to having only 10 posts displayed in the sidebar, and then pagination to access the other 40. Is this effectively the same as having 50 posts in the sidebar but just displayed better, from a link juice point of view?

This brings me to my next point:

What is the best way to pass link juice to all these posts?

Would it be to randomize what gets shown in the sidebar?

Would it be to link a PR2 domain to a specific post in a category and then only show posts relevant to that category in the sidebar? E.g. PR2 link pointing to Sony TVs, and then displaying the other 9 Sony TVs in the sidebar rather than all the brands of TVs (the other 40 posts). And then do the same for the other brands.

Or...?

It does matter but how much; who knows.

A keyword page in a standard menu bar dropped from position 3 to 22 just because I moved its position on one of my sites.

I guess it depends if you want to specifically benefit one or more pages out of those 50. Not sure it would make much of difference to the initial "landing page" of the incoming link. That would still rank the same imo if you had 10 or 50 in the sidebar based on experiences I have had.

Individual web pages have PR so the PR drops the deeper the paginated pages are nested. Example, a 5 page forum thread with the OP page at a PR1 would most likely have a PRn/a - PR0 at best on page #5 in the same thread.

Those paginated/nested pages will usually get dumped into Supplemental SERPs.
