I had a site "missing" for around 4 months.
I just left it there for 2 months and then added some unique articles. It came out about 2 months later and now is getting traffic and sales again. Be patient, add value and find other ways to make money while you wait!

Has any one come across or heard about this phenomena?
I have a website that was around for almost 8 years. SO, as you can appreciate - aged domain. For the past 3 years I have been doing some quality SEO work upon it. Achieved great results and held good positions with competitive keywords for a good year. Then, out of nowhere the site is sent to sand box. It stayed there until recently for almost 3 months. I did some minor link building while it was in the sand box but nothing major. It was released a week ago and went back to its original state. I enjoyed 1 week of good sales. However, 2 days ago I have realised that sales stopped again. when i checked the positions manually the site was nowhere to be found. So, I ran ranking report and the site is gone again. No positions are found just as it was when it went to the sand box. Anyone can suggest anything, or comment in this please. Your replies are greatly appreciated. cheers

It sounds like you are doing something that is a clear violation of Google Webmaster Guidelines, or you are updating your content and getting the temporary boost of QDF. Check Google Webmaster Tools to make sure you are not violating guidelines and then get busy building and promoting web pages that deserve high rankings.

Well, your first problem is that there is NO such think as Google SANDBOX.

Your second problem, is that you're already in a panic and these are newly built websites.

Your third problem, is it looks like you need to work on your patience...

At the end of the day, you have NOTHING to worry about. They will be back, just keep the unique content flowing and keep building links.

Yes there is, and you obviously don't know what you are talking about by the quality of your response. :p

OP, like Yukon said, you are not even trying, your sites are only 1 page? Add more content.

    Hi ammywood,

Despite what you may have heard, there is no sandbox, at least not a real one. It is an imaginary place that webmasters visualize their website when they don't understand why their web pages are not ranking where they had hoped.

It is likely that there was nothing that you did wrong to caused your ranking drop, and there is nothing that you need to do differently or correct.

You described the well known effect of QDF, which is a positive ranking factor, albeit temporary. Now that that temporary boost has worn off, your web pages are ranking right where they deserve to be.

Now it is time to begin the hard work of a solid promotional campaign to boost the rankings of your pages. First, make sure that your pages deserve higher rankings and then get busy with solid promotional work.

    Google's Quality Guidelines

These quality guidelines cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative behavior, but Google may respond negatively to other misleading practices not listed here (e.g. tricking users by registering misspellings of well-known websites). It's not safe to assume that just because a specific deceptive technique isn't included on this page, Google approves of it. Webmasters who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit.

If you believe that another site is abusing Google's quality guidelines, please report that site at https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreport. Google prefers developing scalable and automated solutions to problems, so we attempt to minimize hand-to-hand spam fighting. The spam reports we receive are used to create scalable algorithms that recognize and block future spam attempts.

    Quality guidelines - basic principles

Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as "cloaking."

Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"

Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.

    Quality guidelines - specific guidelines

Avoid hidden text or hidden links.

Don't use cloaking or sneaky redirects.

Don't send automated queries to Google.

Don't load pages with irrelevant keywords.

Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.

Don't create pages with malicious behavior, such as phishing or installing viruses, trojans, or other badware.

Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.

If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

If you determine that your site doesn't meet these guidelines, you can modify your site so that it does and then submit your site for reconsideration.

I'm thinking your problem isn't so much your 1 page of content, I'm thinking it's your lack of providing actual value. Who really knows though, continue to build backlinks, and start your next site. If you're focusing on micro niche sites you can't get too hung up one one site (unless it's a big winner).

1 page site? You need more content If nothing else... add a "contact us", "privacy policy/terms of service" (Privacy Policy / Terms Of Service Generator).

I screwed up on an adsense site a couple years ago (before I knew better). I added about 5 pages of content, then added my ads, but I fell alseep before I added my privacy policy and other "required" pages.

Next morning my ads were all blank spaces on my pages and there was nothing I could do about it. Wasted domain.

I think you should have at least 5 pages on a site to rank well. Having good content is always the key to stay there.

The whole Google Panda thing that's been happening this past year? To make results even more relevant to the searchers query? If big G thinks a one page site is going to deliver then I've been wasting my time.

And just so you know....the sandbox isn't real, like Santa....(sorry Father Christmas believers). Yet I still see folks talking about it as if it were real. It isn't.

You're gonna need a privacy policy, compensation disclosure, contact us, possibly an about me or about this site page at the very very least.

But hey, I can't do it for ya! No wait I could, for a considerable fee lol

Get the basics right and then you might get somewhere,

    Good luck

      ROTFLMAO!

The thing is, those that swear by some sandbox do not explain how they
make it to the top. Is it because google put their competition in
a sandbox, or did they actually have a site worth a promotion?

And when you say you climb back out of the sandbox, does that
mean the sites you overtook are now in the sandbox?
Or maybe, just maybe, it was your hard work? Or their
lousy work? Or their great work?

Seems there would be a never ending shovel of sand going
      back and forth.

The internet is dynamic. SERPS change almost continuously.
      Why wouldn't they?

People give some strange answers here. But then, the
sandbox myth always morphs into nonsense.

You people are really something. First you want google
to just magically put your sites over all the competition,
but then when someone outranks you, suddenly....

      SANDBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!
