Hey guys,

I am in the process of building a very large website. Once it is complete I obviously have to drive traffic to it. I am looking to bring as much traffic as possible so here is what I have so far:

social media - pintrest, facebook, twitter, youtube
social bookmarking - social bookmarking, rss submission
signatures - blog post, forum posts, etc
ads - facebook ads

I did not mention SEO because that takes time. I also did not mention article marketing because I have no generated very good results from it in the past.

What other suggestions do you guys have? Thank you!

Most good things take time. Do you think you are going to create a high traffic site overnight? Also when done properly you can start ranking for stuff within a week or two, which is not that much time.

To answer your question; for other paid traffic sources, I'd take a look at Adwords as well.

      Cardine,

No I did not think I was going to create a high traffic site overnight. The reason I said SEO takes time is because in the meantime I would like to drive traffic with other routes.

    You didn't mention a budget.

Niche forum advertising will let you target specific sub forum traffic, try that.

As far as forum post, it's not difficult to spot spam so be sincere in what you post.

How much money do you have to spend on driving traffic? a couple grand?

Or do you have more time to invest in doing more work like off page seo, social media traffic, press releases, video marketing, comment marketing, article marketing, podcasting, webinars... there are many ways to spend your time and money when it comes to driving traffic. In my experience, you can't go wrong with a good, smart linkbuilding method.

You know what I have been seeing a lot of... graphically enhanced data.

So people are skimming the web for statistics from their industry and combining them to create a poster that looks cool but also offers info. Then they site the locations they got the info from and bam spread it through social media.

This seems like a good way of getting traffic but then again it relies a lot on the graphic design. Haven't used it myself but I plan on it.
