Hey everyone,
Okay so I see a lot of people asking questions like "What kind of backlinks should I get" or "Do you think I can rank if I have x amount of backlinks?" etc.

Quality vs Quantity:
Now, what many people do is get every single backlink they can possibly get and they don't care where they're getting that link from. DO NOT DO THIS!
You see why some sites have thousands of backlinks and yet are not ranking on first page of Google? On the other hand, some sites have a handful of backlinks and still dominate the SERPs. If you go ahead and analyze their backlinks you'll see they have the high quality backlinks like high PR blog posts, very well built web 2.0s and/or homepage do-follow links from different sites.
This is all about quality... the higher the quality of your backlinks, the higher your site ranks in Google. Focus on QUALITY more than quantity.

Diversification:
This is yet another important factor of today's SEO. You should not just build the same kind of backlinks over and over to your money site. You need to diversify this.
Say you just built some web 2.0s for your site today, do some angel & paul backlinks tomorrow, some articles the day after and so on.
Don't build only one type of backlinks for your site. Doing this will risk your rankings - Google will detect the footprint you're leaving very easily and BAM, you're done.

Relevancy:
Many people blast the heck out of their site with Scrapebox or XRumer which is the last thing you'd want to do in your SEO campaigns. Seriously, you're not gonna rank in Google if your backlinks are from sites in a language that even guys at Google don't know about.

What really works is, relevant backlinks. Instead of 1000 blog comments (99% of which will be nofollow anyway), do some guest posing on authority sites in the same niche. The site owner will more than likely allow you to have a link in Author Bio section of your guest post and that's where you leave your backlink with proper anchor text. This works many times better than spamming, believe me.

That's it folks. I've written this post quickly so sorry for any typos/mistakes.
If you have questions, please post in the thread and I'll try my best to answer them.

Have a great day
