What am I doing wrong?

I have been excited about my traffic the last couple weeks. Was seeing about 700 views a day! Before I was seeing about 300. About a week ago it suddenly dropped to about 1-2 hundred a day! This is the worst traffic I have seen since pretty much the beginning. I am new to IM and I know 700 views is not a lot to some of you, but I was very happy with it.

What have I done wrong with google, to lose my rank??? I don't think I have been doing anything different, so don't really understand the change. I write all of my content (it is unique), post atleast once a week, etc.

I am going to work on other methods of traffic, but I would also like to get my site back up on the first page for most of my keywords. Even though I am new to all this, my site has been on the first page for almost the whole year I have had it.

    That was just a Google dance. It mostly happens to all webmasters. Some dropped their rankings and some increase their rankings. Sometimes it also dropped you but return back your rankings after a couple of days or weeks.

    Just keep adding new contents and backlinks.

      There are difference between number of views and visitors as one visitor can generate a lot of views than multiple visitors as such views are not equal to visitors. If you meant visitors I think Simonrv is correct.

        You are correct, I meant visitors. I get many more views than that a day . If I am doing everything correctly, then shouldn't I make out ok with each "Google dance"?

      Great advice. This happens with virtually all of my sites. It's a terrible feeling when it vanishes, but don't worry if you keep working on your backlinks it will always return.

      Yeah It's true. Nothing to worry if you don't do anything wrong or any black hat risky optimization process, just keep your fresh unique contents and backlinks, don't stop. It'll help you to get resolve this Google Dancing issue. Best of luck

    Are you just tracking traffic? What are you doing in the SERPS?

    Yes to the above, just keep building links and make sure they are diverse from plenty of different sources.

    Do some steady backllinking. This will soon have your site back on the first page. Also keep up with the fresh content.

      Thanks everyone. I understand that it fluctuates, just don't understand how I would have dropped soooo much with most of my keywords when all my content is up to date, unique, etc. Thanks!
