Should I Make my Blog Comments Nofollow or Dofollow?

Hey Warriors,

I've always had the links on my blog comments NOFOLLOW, but I just installed a new WP theme that automatically makes my comments dofollow.

I could get into the editing files and turn them nofollow, I'm sure, but I'm actually considering keeping them Dofollow, for all blog comments.

The blog I'm specifically talking about is in the "make money online" niche, and just about every single blog in this niche - including the Big Guns - all have their blog comments turned to Nofollow.

Is there really enough reasons (for SEO purposes) to make my blog comments Nofollow? Or do you think it would be fine if I left them Dofollow, and just made sure I monitored all comments better?

First I want to disclose that I don't consider myself an SEO "guru".

With that out of the way, I will tell you that there are pros and cons to making your blog comments "dofollow".

    The pros:
If you want to have as much activity as possible with visitors contributing to your blog's content by leaving comments, you want to leave them "dofollow".

    The cons:
To prevent spamming and linking to undesirable sites, you will need to monitor all comments to screen them.

Also, you will be leaking some of your blog's juice through the outbound links in your blog's comments.

    The bottom line?
It is a fine balance. If you want a lot of reader interaction, have the time to monitor your blog's comments and are willing to leack some of your blog's juice, have them "dofollow".

On the other hand if you don't have the time to monitor the comments and do not want to share your page rank, have them "nofollow".

    I hope that this helps

Making comments dofollow would be impossible. There
      aint no such animal.

Leaving off the nofollow attribute does not make
a link dofollow. Dofollow is one of the most ridiculous
non-words anyone ever came up with.

Google chooses to count what it chooses to count.

You should turn off comments, actually. They add
nothing to your page except muddle it up with
junk. Spam or no spam. It's junk. Why do you
want your pages muddled with junk?

I know. You want people to leave comments because
you think that makes people visit.

Well, ask yourself this. Do I want people who leave
comments, or do I want buyers and clickers? They
      are not the same.

If your blog exists as a free-4-all conversation, that's
      another story.

I myself have multiple blogs to attract buyers and
clickers. If you want to leave some dumb@$$ comment,
      go elsewhere.

I did some searching and found a video about the subject.

It is straight from the "Horse's mouth" (Google's spokesman Matt Cutts).

You might want to watch it:

I don't know if I am allowed to link directly to YouTube, so if you don't see the video on the post, here is the URL in text format:
