Question about links from higher PR sites

I was thinking of buying some PR3 or higher sites (if I can get a decent price), for backlink purposes only, and then maybe to sell front page links.

Does the topic of that higher PR site have to match the topic of my site I am trying to rank to get the benefit of a link from a higher PR site??

Do these really make a big difference? Lets say having 500 backlinks from PR0 sites, verses having 10 backlinks from PR3 sites or higher?

I had been looking at some sites for sale that are not in my niches and don't know if I should buy them.

And then I guess if they are on topic or not makes another difference.

You should buy ONLY links on related pages. But look for their PR and OBL. One PR3 with ZERO OBL could cost for example $70 per year, but it is worth more than 20 PR3 pages with 10+ OBL in each one! Remember this and I think you are ready to choose the best PR3+ page to buy links from

This is simply not true. A myth that is repeated by many people, but has been proven wrong numerous times. Google cannot determine the relevancy of content linking to your site. Google is a robot, it cannot understand abstract concepts.

For example, if a snippet of content talks about Tim Tebow as a great Quarterback and then links to a Football site, Google will not be able to determine what the heck the keyword "Tim Tebow" has to do with football.

Also, the amount of "new keywords" that are created every day is insane. A few years ago, the now popular keyword "Tim Tebow" wouldn't even exist.

Google is fully aware that any attempt to include content relevancy in their algo's backlink analysis would be a total catastrophe.

Also, I believe the OP is talking about purchasing a Pr 3 Domain outright so that he can permanently put his own backlinks on it. If that's the case, it would only cost him about 10 dollars per year for domain registration. And he could put as many backlinks as he wants.

As to your question about high PR power.... Everything else being equal (ie. similar amounts of external links). 10 PR 3's would blow 500 PR O's out of the water.

So then I can buy any topic pr3 site and put my own links on the front page (where I am assuming is the only PR3 page) and that would be a good strategy.

yep. Posted before me. That would be an AMAZING strategy. In fact, high pr domain buying has finally started to become more mainstream. Good idea for sure.

Will there be any lesser value to google if these 2 sites are on the same hosting company??

You have to be careful with this, if you have a few sites, you could be flagged as a link farm. Just wondering why PR3? You can get much better link juice from PR6 and above links (not buying the sites of course)

Especially if same IP, might be a problem, but if you mix it up with other links, then it will be natural.

As far as I know, internet marketers target PR4 and up sites. Even PR3 is cheap it can take your money to nowhere. This simply means you didn't actually save money. Instead, you lose your money.
