I know SEO is not a 1 night game. It takes 4-6 months. But how to increase the serp position fast. I have seen websites which comes on first page of google very fast. While my website is on first page of google but now position is same from last few weeks. When I update the home page then google update the meta description in snippet. It means google is crawling my website frequently. But why position is not increasing after lot of backlinking.

Make sure you're logged out of Google when checking your rankings. If you stay logged in, you'll get personalized results, which take into account which websites you've visited.

Check your competition. Are they authority sites like Amazon, Wikipedia, or About.com? These sites can be very difficult to outrank because of their inherent domain authority which is how Wikipedia's articles rank so well despite often have far fewer backlinks.

Keep in mind that more backlinks doesn't always translate to higher rankings. One link from an authority site like the ones mentioned above is a million times more valuable than a few hundred links from forums, blogs, or web 2.0s.

Finally, if you're going up against other affiliates, remember that they're probably also adding backlinks. You might actually be losing the backlink war despite adding links.

You also need to clear all Google cookies even if you're logged out. Best bet is something like the Unpersonalized plugin for Firefox.

What types of links are you getting?

  • Well you can start by making sure your on-page SEO is 100% setup. It might not give you an overnight jump, but it will certainly help.

it's not just a 4-6 month setup and done. you need to continually practice SEO and have fresh new content on a regular basis along with a consistent link building campaign. if you get to number one and then stop optimizing after 6 months, your competitors are going to quickly take over that #1 spot.

If you really want to shoot up the serps fast then you'll need high PR backlinks pointing back to your site.

Well, if you are referring to ranking the sites in your sig, its going to take alot of on point seo techniques.

Variety of backlinks, whether it be profile links, article links, blog commenting links, and so-on.

Consistency is Key as well. Just don't think you can build a few backlinks, get to the first page of Google and stay there. You can't and won't because your competition is doing pretty much the same as you , but alot more times and more consistent.

Trial and Error too... Just be careful as to how much money you put into that error, because you could wipe yourself out if you don't know what your doing.

Personally, I find that every site that I have put on the first page of Google - Article Marketing and Press releases play a huge role. Combine those 2 techniques with Web 2.0 Profile Links, Blog Commenting, Social Bookmarks, Social Networking and Forum Profiles; you will see a huge spike in traffic and rankings.

1- Make sure your onsite SEO is optimized (keywords in URL, keyword density, title tags, image tags, internal links, etc.)

2- Create your back links (web 2.0, article sites, guest posting, etc.)

    3- Optimize, optimize, optimize.

But I forgot.... forget about increasing SERP overnight... it takes at least a few days/weeks to see results.
