I just wanted to share a few of tips with everyone I've learned to increase how powerful your BMR backlinks will be and how much they will help increase your rankings.

1) Include Your Keyword In Your Title:

This is SEO 101 but people often overlook the various ways to do this. For instance, let's say you're ranking a site for a local dentist in Toledo, Mississippi and your keyword is "dentists in toledo ms." Your title should be something like, "Teeth Cleaning Tips From Toledo Dentists."

This way, Google see's the title of your article already has to do with the Toledo, MS area. Your article should already surround dentistry so your content shouldn't be a problem.

2) Include LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) Keywords In Your Article:

LSI Keywords are keywords that search engines find are related to other keywords. These drastically help in article writing. Staying with the "dentist" example from before, head on over to Google's Keyword Tool. Type in "Dentist Los Angeles, CA" and let's look at the related keywords Google brings up. When checking for LSI keywords, you should always use a big city and state so you're sure to get all possible related keywords.

Ok, so when we type in "Dentist Los Angeles, CA" you'll see some great keywords that are related to your "Dentist" field like "Sedation Dentist" and "Cosmetic Dentist." The great thing about these related keywords is that they come straight from Google itself so you know you'll be using the right LSI keywords.

3) Vary Your Link Anchor Text: (Reminded by Stephenwaldo)

This is very often overlooked, especially by old timers of IM who are "set in their ways." Back in the day, pushing ONLY the exact keyword you're trying to rank for would work but today, it goes by a lot faster if you randomly throw in links with anchored texts like, "Click here!" or the actual URL of your website. It can feel like you're wasting an article when you do this but it helps, trust me. (and every other person who does this nearly full-time)

4) Link To Your Inner Pages: (Reminded by Stephenwaldo)

You obviously don't want to do this most of the time but by doing it every 4-6 posts or so, it will look more natural and organic to Google. If you're pumping out 10 powerful backlinks a day to your homepage and nowhere else, you're not reaching the maximum potential that's out there. Doing small, natural looking, things like this will rank you for the keywords you want and those little ones you didn't even know about.

I'm not going to write a full 150 words but below, I'm going to show you an example of a good BMR article using the two tips I explained above.

Things To Look For in Toledo Dentists

When looking for a great Dentist in Toledo, MS, you should always look for a few good attributes. One is whether or not the dentist does any Cosmetic work. If they offer Cosmetic Dentistry then your options for dental work rises a lot.

[Blah Blah Blah]

In closing, the last thing to ask is if they offer Sedation Dentistry. As we all know, having dental work done while not being under heavy sedation can sometimes be very painful, even with the use of novacane. So look for these things and you're sure to find the right Dentist or Oral Surgeon in your area of Toledo!
I always tend to put LSI keywords in Bold print as well. I've yet to see a blog post from Google saying it does or doesn't help so better safe than sorry. It's not like BMR posts are supposed to look elegant anyway. Odds are no one will ever read them after they're reviewed for publishing.

So there ya go, a few of tips that will help your BMR backlinks become more powerful in the eyes of Google. I hope they were helpful!

Great tips man! I do the same thing. At times I get sick and tired of talking about the same subject. For example, let's say my keyword is "Samsung TV." Usually I'd talk about the specs and what not for the TV. I'll change it up to somewhere like "You can find the Samsung TV through Craigslist for a cheaper price. Craigslist is blah blah blah blah blah." Therefore I don't go into detail about the specs, but I have the keyword in there and I talk about something else. Nevertheless, I still get high PR and it gets indexed.

I don't know, I'm just finding ways to have fun with BMR. Especially if I have to feed the beast almost every day.

Very excellent advice for anyone looking to get the most out of their membership to BMR.

Here are a few other tips to get every ounce of link juice out of your posts:

    1. Vary your anchor text so that you link with keyword variations, LSI keywords, and even a couple generic "click here" links. This looks much more natural to Google.

    2.
Deep link to inner pages. If you're not doing this then you are seriously missing out.

    3.
Vary the length and # of links in your posts. You can actually post one link per 150 words of content. Again, it looks much more natural if you have at least a small percentage of your posts with more than 150 words and one link.

If you follow all of the advice laid out in this thread, you will have yourself one highly effective BMR campaign!

Great tips Stephen! When I made this post initially, I forgot to mention the varying of the keywords.

Far too many people focus on just 1-2 keywords and in their defense, that used to work very well. However, now, Google has wised up and started focusing on related keywords as well since it's the more natural look of backlinks.

Basically, all you have to do is sit down and think of what looks more natural. You can even do a backlink check on a competing website. You'll see a lot of "http://www.brandname.com" links as well as "Click Here!"s. You HAVE to look natural or you'll find reaching #1 takes a lot longer than it should.

You're right. I mentioned BMR because it's a very hot service right now and only having to use 150 words, people will often pump out many posts a day and forget to optimize them.
