Shouldn't I post my articles in sites with higher PageRank?

I'd like to hear others opinions on where is best to post articles to attain better rankings in Google for specific keywords.

I looked over some of the higher ranking article sites and so far this shows to be the best method?

Some of these sites are:

HubPages, Pinterest, Squidoo, and with Scrbd being a whopping PR 8 site.

Should I even bother with other lesser ranking directories?

No doubt, high pr article directories are quite important for your article marketing campaign.

However do not overlook some lower ranked article directories that get good traffic. You can identify these through their Alexa Ratings. Don't forget, one of the main aims of targeting high pr sites is to give you link juice, raise your own site's pr and thereby get traffic. We are thus back at getting traffic. Obviously therefore, if you can get some high quality traffic direct from an article directory, why neglect it.

Also some lesser ranked article directories can be a source of wide syndication of your articles. This will generate good traffic to your site.

Don't overlook the fact that your article PR has nothing
to do with the main site's PR. Your article will be PR n/a.

No matter. Put your articles where ever you wish. I
like squidoo because I can do anything I want with
the lens. And it's a real webpage.

Pinterest is not really an article site. You can pinterest your
squidoo lens. I have just started pinning things as I
was accepted a couple of weeks ago.

I wonder how long it will be before someone ruins
pinterest. Hopefully it will stand the test and survive
      like twitter.

Nice thing about most article directories is that you can syndicate your content on them, unlike HubPages. So utilizing them to create diversified backlinks may not be too bad of an idea. Really depends on your SEO approach.

Well You can Syndicate Your Content in the Most of Article Sites and Directories! Acquiring Back links is not a Big Deal! Obtaining Niche Based Qualitative Back links is more helpful for your site in the Long Run!!

If you make submission of your articles on high pr site then it will be more useful for your site better results. But if you make submission on lower rank but known site then it also be helpful to drive people to your site and this also be helpful to bring traffic to your site.

Submitting articles to High PR will boost the keyword and page ranking in search engine results pages. You can also submit in Technorati, Seeking Alpha, Ezine Articles etc which has good PR.

instead of putting your article on an article directory where your article will be pr n/a why don't you approach other webmasters in similar niches and offer to guest post for them. If the article is linked to from their homepage some of the pr juice from teh homepage will go to your article

Thanks for the info. Some 2.0 sites delete your accounts, that's so frustrating.

To achieve rankings, you should build good number of links not only from article directories but from some other SEO sources as well. So, try forum posting, blog posting, blog commenting etc. Also add some more article sites in your list to build back links from different sites, as Google counts links from different sources

Well, after Panda update I am quite reluctant for article posting over article directories.
I have to publish my content, I would rather go for blogging over social media websites. These website have good reputation and push your content over search engine rankings.

I would search for actual pagerank pages. Not what the homepage is, but the page your link will actually go on.

  • I'd say don't overthink it. Just submit your articles wherever you can. SEO is really simple, and doesn't need to be overcomplicated.

It's been said that Google uses over 200 different factors when ranking a website...We don't know exactly what these factors are and we don't know what the ranking weight is for each factor.

Due of this inherent lack of transparency from the SE's, SEO will always be complicated and anything BUT simple.

I am wondering how you are using Pinterest because I could not find any option there to publish content. However, besides I think scribd too is not a place to publish content. Is not it?

Squidoo is good but Weebly is not bad either.

Article Directories have attained strong criticism but I never stopped publishing content on Ezine, Article Base and Sooper Articles. Few things that we have to do like social bookmarking they do themselves. However, the articles stay on PR5 page for a while. As every article stays so there is a small time for them but that is not bad for me.
