Good keyword or not? Opinions please...

I found a keyword that has according to GKT, 12100 exact monthly searches. And here is a list of competitive sites in Traffic Travis:


So I need your opinion, go for it or not, does it worth it?

It is a health niche, and exact match domain isn't available, but lets say that unavailable domain is myexample.com, but myexamples.com is available .

Well, what do you think?

EDIT: I must correct myself, only available domain is www.my-examples.com (with hyphen).

    If you're confident in your ability to market the site than by all means, go for it. 12.1K monthly searches is pretty small so it might be a good place to start if you're new to SEO.

      If I understand you correctly, by "product name" you mean something like Nike, Reebok etc.? No there is not this is for example (I'll stick to the shoes) high heels shoes, lets say.

    How do you want to monetize?

    If it's Adsense, you should also check if there are advertisers for your keyword and if the ads are likely to convert.

    Stop. Will this keyword make you money? Because based on the competition I don't think it will. I'm willing to bet this is a purely informational keyword, hense the low competition.

      Well, according to Google traffic estimator, CPC for this keyword is 1 $, ad position is 1, and estimated daily clicks 0.26 . Can you explain those numbers for me, since I don't know what this means at all

        Go on spyfu.com and write down your keyword. If there is any result - great. If not, don't worry too much - just write down a more general keyword - for example, if your keyword is "cheap accessories for ipad", then write down "accessories for ipad". Then post a screenshot here.

            It says there is only one advertiser. This means there is only 1 company bidding for your keyword. As this, you will probably not get a good CPC. Also if this company stops bidding, you won't have ANY targeted ads anymore on your site. And this kills your CTR. Figure out why there is only 1 advertiser and figure out if there will likely be more in the future again.

            What you can also do is proxy into the target region and do a google search for your keyword. Count the number of advertisements in the search results. Also look how many of these advertisements relate to your keyword. You have to think of the user. If someone searches your keyword and then sees the advertisements that you now see, would they have a reason to click that ad?

    The screenshot above shows that there is only 1 advertiser at the moment, but it also shows (-25). I'm not pretty sure what does that mean. It may be a seasonal keyword or... dunno. Think about the monetization. However, it may be easier to rank but not worth.

    I agree with 1 or 2 hyphens you can easily get rankings. Anymore then that will be spammy. According to traffic travis that seems like a fairly easy keyword to rank. Only 2 websites are optimized correctly, no edu and gov links and the PRs are low. Go for it

    It is very important to focus your market to your target region. I also suggest you to create a new adcopy using your kw. Choose your kw carefully. remember, you would not be able to target the right market if you don't speak the language of your customer

    Go for the hyphen, but really make sure that the keyword is going to make you money.

    How far down the buying cycle would the person be?

    Are they searching for information, or are they very specific and have their wallet on the desk, or is their credit card out and ready to go?

      I must tell you that I don't believe in this spyfu result, because there is no way that this is correct. Lets say that ths keyword is widely known among all people, I will use example like 'cars' . There is no way that for such a keyword is only one advertiser, simply no chance. Here is a result in Google traffic estimator for this one more general keyword:

    1. If you would like to monetize with AdSense go to Google Ad Preview and search for your keyword and see how many ads there are on the result page, if page is full of ads this is good information.
    2. Those 2 pages from spot 1 and 2: are they from the same domain? and is it also microniche site? If this is true you must just judge if you can do better website then they do.
    3. How many pages from top 10 are optimized for this keyword? All 9 pages that have keyword in title have this keyword in exact match?
    4. What kind of people are typing this keyword, are they in "speding money" mode? If this is true this is also good information.

      Just run the keyword through stealth keyword competition analyzer and you will get pretty good overview how difficult its gonna be to rank.
      But thats a good amount of searches, go for it, even if it means a little more work in backlinking.

        Based on your information I would go for this KW.

        If only one page is optimized for this KW, there are lots of ads, 1st spot is weak this is good.
        If you want to have more information you could also check from where this page from 1st spot has backlinks. If you have Market Samurai you can check this easily, or you can use free tool like SEO SpyGlass.
