I've recently started searching google for sites/blogs related to my fantasy sports blog. I have a list of about 30 so far and only searched 3 of my 8 keywords. I've already started getting responses to the emails i've sent out and 4 sites have placed me in their blogrolls or site friends list. I hope to get as many as I can (most are PR3 to PR6).

The question though, is this a better way of creating backlinks over blog commenting, since they are static and viewed on every page. And if so how long will it take before I start seeing results from this.

My site is still young, just reached 1 month and im looking to increase its page rank and traffic as quick as I can.

Wilhouse, it really depends on your budget. Are you looking for only free ways for getting back links or do you have a budge to have some outsourced.

There are literally thousands of ways to get backlinks these days. You may want to check out the Warrior For Hire section to start or even take a look at Fivver if you are wanting to watch your budget.

Yeah unfortunately or fortunately how ever you want to look at it, i have decided not to purchase backlinking services yet. I want to learn how to do it so when I do want to make a real solid push, with some hired help,I can see what has been done and make sure Im getting what I pay for.

My real question is, how long before I start to notice some of these sites show up under like the alexa and other such tools?

Im ultimately looking to drive more traffic to mysite.

I've started using the SEO by Yoast tool to make sure my posts and pages are optimized. I have a twitter account that I have 200+ and growing followers and I link to the site at least once a day. Facebook fan page (brand new yesterday). So the step after I figured would to start building some back links since thats what I've read.

So i've been posting on 4 "dofollow" forums and find blogs and commenting on them (looking for blogs with the commentluv specifically). If been doing that for 2 weeks and really didn't notice a rise in traffic. So as I have been browsing around I started to notice some of these football and baseball sites had these blog rolls and I figured Id make a list and start emailing the owners to see if I can listed on their sites.

I know this can be a slow process I just want to make sure Im not wasting my time.
