Clarification Needed: Sending social blasts to my web2.0 articles

Hello Fellow Warriors
I have a question regarding backlinking: sending social blasts to my web2.0 articles (squidoo etc).
My understanding is that you will point mass social bookmarks to the WEB2.0 Page itself and NOT to the "money site link" within the Web2.0 article (because that would be the same as pointing the mass social booknmark DIRECTLY to the money site - which could be frowned upon by Google).
If my understanding is incorrect, could you plesae rectify?
