Before some days i went for interview in a SEO firm and there they ask me this question that what is htaccess and for which purpose it often use? but i quit because i don't have deeply knowledge about it so please share your knowledge and experience about it.

    Main one is 301 redirects which can be put directly into the htaccess file or .htaccess depending on what system you are using.

    You can also use htaccess to increase page load times and how each page connects to the server.

      According to me, a .htaccess file is "the default name of a directory-level configuration file that allows for decentralized management of web server configuration." If you're not a computer whiz (and I'm not), such a definition is simply impossible to understand. So putting aside all the computer programming terminology, a .htaccess file is a tiny file which is placed within a website to do a number of functions.
