Need SEO advice with a client's site due to legal issues....

I have a client with a PR5 domain who I got ranking on the first page for a very competitive niche. He's having legal issues and has to change his business name along with his website's name. What should I do to have him hold on to the rankings?
The keyword is not keyword rich and we will still own it. Can be used for a 301 redirect.
I have some ideas but am looking for other experienced SEO guys to chime in as I bet there are some things I haven't thought of.
