The FIRST article you Backlink to on a New Site

Hello, I'm new to this so I have a question.

Say you started a new site, and you wrote one article for it. Now you want to build backlinks to it.

Do you build your backlinks to the MAIN page (site.com), or do you link to the ARTICLE page (site.com/article)?

Do you just put the article on the front page, and then move it to separate page later? Doesn't this ruin the backlinks to your article, since all of your backlinks will now be pointing to the front page and not the new article page?

Thank you for any advice.

You would build the links to your main site. More or likely you have a preview of the articles on your home page anyway.

    Hi,

Essentially, you will want to backlink to both, the article and the homepage. The more backlinks to the homepage, the more powerful/popular the entire site, however, to rank specifically for the keyword targeted by the article, you will need to link directly to that article.

Suggestion: link general topic keywords back to your root domain and specific keywords by linking directly to those articles.

Agreed, this is a good standard to follow. Build 1/2 your links to home page and half to deep links.

I backlink 80% to my index page and 20% to my internal pages. However, I may backlink to my articles as well if I think I have a chance to get in the top five.

You should build backlinks NOT only to the homepage, but also to internal pages.. But building backlinks to your article page will also improve your SERP!

Post the article to Qondio.com as original never before published content and once screened, post to ideamarketers.com. When doing this, link to the main site home page.

Do this systematically, every time you write an article for lots of quality backlinks that stick and very good immediate and continual targeted traffic.

Once it is getting syndicated on ideamarketers.com, usually 3-5 days, post it on your blog and then post the actual link to the article post on all the social networks.
