page/post/keyword organization

I've been searching through old posts on WF looking for a definitive answer to this, but can't find one.
What I am trying to figure out, is how should I organize my WP sites in terms of using pages or posts, and their relation to keywords.
I am using SEM rush and Market Samurai to find the keywords that competitors are ranking for, but I am not sure how to actually use them on my sites?
Is it better to:

1. Have a static front page optimized for your primary keyword that your URL is aimed at, and having other pages optimized for the other keywords you want to rank for, or:

2. Use blog posts, with each one targeting a different keyword?

Thanks,
Steve

I use pages for my statics ... and posts for random posts

Front page and in nav. bar there are links to about 5 pages that are staple information to the website.
Example: Dentist Career, Dentist Salary, Dentist Education, Dentist Lifestyle, ETC. can be organized as pages.

And stuff like ... How Being a Dentist Can Save Your Marriage ... and random posts like that can be written in your posts selection and organized into categories.
