...when compared to the top of page 2 of the SERPs? I ask because I have a site in 13th and a small push from here could take me to glory. Does anyone have a ballpark figure of how many times more traffic you can expect when you get a site onto the first page?
#1st #page #traffic

There is a big difference between page 1 and page 2.

You're not going to see a huge spike though from #13 until you get down till at least #7.

Well, much more, but it really depends. If you just get to no. 10 the difference won't be stellar, but you will start ranking for many long-tails too. Of course, your goal is to get top 3 where you will really start to feel the difference.

The amount of traffic depends on the competition, global searches and many other factors. I have a keyword at 8th position giving decent visitors while another keyword at 2nd position not yielding me any benefit.
You should make sure that the keywords you're targeting are genuine. Good luck.

It also depends on your brand awareness as if you are not well known, competing against household names and are ranking a bit above them users might still go for teh names they know.

As said you want to be in the top 3 before it really gets interesting.

Can't exactly tell how much times but there should be a significant boost compared to second page position.

Ideal position is Top 3, which are guaranteed to be above the fold. 4th and 5th position see only about 10% of the traffic. Anything below is less than 10%. I'm on second page top 3 of a popular term, I only see about 1% of the traffic.

You definetely should get to the first 3 spots in order to see a significant increase of traffic.
4 and 5 are still ok.

It's an hard work but doable for many niches and keywords (even some with high competition)

I agree with the comment above about getting to the top 3 spots. Thats really where you will notice the traffic come in, depending on your keyword volume as well. If you do not have much volume, you won't notice much.

Getting from page 2 to page 1 (#6-10) really isn't great also. I mean it is a good accomplishment but you want to be higher!
