    Depends on the tool.

SENuke has been having rough times lately. Web 2.0 is turning into a giant pile of spam now that marketers have been raiding it for years, so I'm not sure I can recommend that.

Same thing has been happening with AMR and article spinning tools. Not very handy when everyone is abusing them.

There are still some good tools, mainly pinging, indexing, and social bookmarking tools that come very in handy, plus services like link assistant which are great for getting guest blog posts and other white hat links.

It just depends which tool you're talking about.

Hell. Stay away, using 2-3 highly contextual links that you take the time and effort to create will do you lots more good. Post-Panda they are almost worthless.

What really get me is the SEO experts that fire up their SEN and let it run for a couple of hours, job done. You very much get what you pay for in SEO (unless it's an automated tool)

SEnuke had proven good for many sites till date, however i will prefer going to manual way seeing into the Google Panda scenario

Haven't lost their value, just need to mix up WHAT you're backlinking or getting exposure to. The backlink game is ever, ever evolving..you just need to be as fluid as the market.

i think they can be used IF used with other tools, what i mean is if you only use say SE NUKE and all your links come from the same place your in trouble! you need to really mix up where your links are coming from, i think this is were a lot of people fail.

They are heaven in the correct hands but the majority of people just hammer
the hell out of the software spamming everything insight. There is a right and
wrong way to use these tools.

100% agree. These automatic tools CAN be useful if you use them in the right way. The way you use them are IMO more important than the tools themselves.

Pretty much sums it up there. If you use these tools you need to do your research and make sure that you're using it in a non-spammy way otherwise you'll be in for some rough roads.

I would say to leave the automation to people who really need it. Sites that are pumping out massive amounts of quality content or have a good social presence. The need for automation at this level seems like a necessity. Any other type of automation, especially for contextual backlinks, is pretty much just spam any way you look at it... even if you are slipping under Google's radar.

Tools can very easily give an initial boost. You may come crashing back down if you're not careful, though.

That said, a lot of people build their entire business model around this. Blasting away and constantly jumping from site to site.

i agree with most of what has been posted, so i guess it's not the tool but the person using it, if used "correct" they can be heaven, if not used so good maybe hell. i have also heard of people starting a fresh site and smashing it with auto tools and getting a high page rank.... but how long will that ranking last..... hmm

yes, i have got a lot of feedback from people saying that the tools *seem* to help only for google to bring them back down to earth after a short time. people dont mix there link sourses up and just use the same sites to get there backlinks, in my eyes that can only spell trouble.

I really disagree with some commentators.Yeah very important question. Some marketers use robots for Seo,That is very harmful for your overall strategy

While SEO tools definitely have their place, manual link building would still prove to be more beneficial. Can SEO tools build you quality high PR backlinks? Very unlikely. Can you build high PR links yourself. Why not?

i think lots of peopleare drawn to auto tools becasue of the time saving factor, hwoever if the tool only makes your site rise up the ranks for a short time and then drops you, then thats not really time saved in the long run!

BUT if google works out your using auto tools its bad for your site it's in googles intrests that the links are from people sharing (as in real people) and not a person giving himself links.
