Anyone have experience making military niche pages? I have a ton of military resources, personal experience and I can also do my own articles. I did a basic Google keyword search and found some niches with low comp high doc and 1000+ searches. Only thing is that the top site is obviously the military branch's authority site. After that? Not so much. Any thoughts?

I don't have any personal experience in military niches, but I do have a lot of experience in SEO and the fundamentals apply to all niches.

Based on what you've described, it sounds like some government run sites are in the top 10. These sites will be hard to beat, because they have an incredible amount of authority.

I randomly checked the Airforce and Navy sites and both were a PR8. Ouch.

However, I'm assuming you're competing against an inner page of one of these sites rather than the homepage. These inner pages will still have an incredible amount authority, but they probably are not properly optimized for the keywords you are targeting.

If you properly optimize for the keyword and perform solid SEO and build lots of high PR links than you could even take out these authority sites for that specific keyword.

Long story short, even the big authority sites can be taken down if you have the right strategy.

I'd say as long as you're competing for true niche terms and not brand names like "air force" or anything like that then you should go for it. It sounds like an untapped niche from an SEO perspective.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

If you have a ton of resources and experience, make an authority site and brand yourself as an expert in the niche. There are other ways of getting traffic to your site besides SEO. Sounds to me like your site would be a good resource and not just a site created solely for making money.

Its doing fine..I made that to sell my ebook and experiment with list building, not for adsense money. But I'm looking into adsense /infolinks sites and id like to start one. I like what you said about the inner pages because what I noticed about the PR8 sites is they aren't very specific. As a 10freelance year vet and working with the government still I think I could build an authority site that's like a "secrets of"
