Pros: Instant traffic, rank at top of SERPS without the SEO/waiting, etc. Great for when CPC is low and commission is high.

Cons: You're paying for each click to your website. And you don't own the SEO, if you stop buying ads you lose your spot.

With SEO you can own your spot, and after working on it you'll save money instead of wasting it on PPC ads. I'll always do a mix of both. PPC for instant ads, and SEO for a long term goal of ranking over time to end all the PPC ads.

Pay-per-click advertising has a quick set-up and money spent will immediately translate into clicks through to your site. This means that PPC advertising delivers immediate results, unlike Search Engine Optimization (SEO) campaigns.

It is the best solution if your website is new. But it will be more beneficial if you concentrate more on SEO from the beginning because PPC may increase your website traffic but It is costlier and you can't depend on this on long term basis.

          Hi AravGupta,

PPC is not always costlier, and even if it is, it is still very profitable. Why would someone want to turn over that profitable business to a competitor? Are you not just helping out your competitors by ceding all the PPC profits to them?

      Hi komplex,

I would say your assertion is not true at all.

You certainly do not own your own spot with SEO. If you are in a competitive niche, and you generally will be if you are making money, you must invest continuously in SEO campaigns to remain near the top. In fact, there are many competitive niches where you will have better ROI on PPC campaigns than SEO.

And why in the world would someone end PPC ads if they are profitable. Are you simply turning over that profit to your competitors? Why give away profits?

PPC ads are also popularly known as sponsored listing so it is very benefit for search engine ranking and also If you do not receive traffic, you owe nothing. SEO requires a large upfront investment with no guarantees of campaign performance.

The great thing about PPC is you can test really quick and see whether or not a particular keyword can produce conversions before you waste your time on SEO efforts.

As you can imagine, we promote a lot of different keywords utilizing document sharing sites and all of this takes a lot of effort, resources and not to mention the duration we must wait for Google to reevaluate positioning. If we spend all of our time and resources in promoting a keyword that ultimately does not convert then all of that is wasted. So before we start doing are SEO efforts. We tend to run $50 campaigns and each of for keywords to test conversions.

There is one thing for sure.. With PPC you will get targeted traffic but there is no guarantee of conversion. You might be paying for untargeted clicks.

Also, your competitors may kill your budget with fake clicks.

      Hi C Rebecca,

If you "get targeted traffic", why would you think that "you might be paying for untargeted clicks"? Those two things don't usually go together, do they?

If you choose top tier ad platforms, like Google AdWords, they monitor and credit you for invalid clicks, and you can monitor and manage that using your own tracking systems. I am sure you realize well managed campaigns can be very profitable, despite those issues, right?

PPC means pay per click. It is a paid advertisement program where we have to pay a company to increase visitors and that company pay to their member for click your web site link. We can get instant result by using PPC. It is one kind of internet marketing act.

      Hi karina7564,

That is not PPC that you described, but pay-to-click, which is often an illegitimate operation setup to rip off unsuspecting advertisers.

The biggest advantage of PPC is instant traffic but it has a steep learning curve and requires attention to detail. Be prepared to make losses as part of the learning experience otherwise PPC is not for the faint hearted.

The best advantage to me is huge traffic and conversions from Display Network properties, everything from Amazon and About.com all the way to small blogs & sites that run AdSense.

75% of my AdWords traffic & conversions come from Display Network. Search Network ads running in the SERPs are small potatoes by comparison.

      Hi patco,

      Yes, "extra sells"!

What "more" would you want than extra sales?

If you know what you are doing you create your own "luck" by using best practices and testing. Just call it the "luck" of optimization based on scientific methods. That is the kind of "luck" that can be produced systematically.

PPC increases the number of qualified visitors to your website. PPC can be set up to work effectively within a few days therefore using PPC can be useful for new websites, or for short term promotions.
