I've been trying to find an answer to this but I can't seem to phrase this correctly when googling it.

What if you buy certain domain names that let's say get's redirected to domain1.com.

And you do seo (build backlinks) to domain2.com and domain3.com. Would they appear on serps or not because they are just redirects?

Redirects in Apache. Problem: Back when seomoz.org was originally created, it was hosted at SEO Software. Simplified. | SEOmozseo/ rather than on its own domain.

make sites with these domain and get baklinks from them that will be valuable than simple redirection.

Yes, I think that suggestion is better.

I actually just saw some posts that google will treat those as duplicate sites/content, so might as well make small site and get backlinks from them.
